Hi everyone,

A friend of mine had her thyroid checked and here are her numbers:

Ultra TSH: .520

Free T4: 1.2

Her main symptom is fatigue and problems focusing....along with minor

skin issues.

To me, these numbers look normal. The TSH is really low...and I THINK

the T4 is good. Am I right?

Thanks,

She may have Hashimoto's. Thats what I have any my labs were simular to hers at first. I would tell her to ask her doc to check her white blood cell count and if high.... probably is Autoimmune Hashimoto's. Me, fatigue and skin issues!

Hi ,

When I was first noticing things were off eight years ago, I had

fatigue and memory tissues. The fatigue went from bad to worse -It

went from be tired in the after noon to dragging through the day to

taking naps to not being able to wake up and sleeping until noon.

How bad is the fatigue? Fatigue can be interpreted many ways.

Is there a family history of thyroid dysfunction? What are the TPO

and TG antibodies levels? If she has the TSH receptor antibodies

then the TSH would be affected by that - making it lower than it

really is. To rule that out a TSI and TBII s/b ran.

A Free T3 test is very important, that goes along with focusing,

concentration, memory, brain fog etc. Also, since you didn't post

the range, I have no way to know if the FT4 number is normal or not.

Going from my labs range, which is likely, not the same, it would be

in the mid-range. For example .8 - 1.6 ** 1.2 is smack in the middle

at 50% in the range.

Also a knowledgeable doc would run a CBC and a CMP.

Bj

Are those the only things tested? I don't see any free T3, RT3, or

antithyroid antibody test results.

Personally I don't think her TSH is very low. My last TSH was 0.0 (range

0.4 - 4.0) and I was hyper at that time.

I know some people are happy to reduce their TSH to around 2.0, but that

is way too high for me, from past history.

I think the T4 level is close to optimal, I've read 1.2 to 1.4, but it

really needs the Free T3 and the others to tell what is really going on.

Hi,

1200 calories doesn't seem like enough, but I don't count calories.

I do know with Hashi's the secret, for me, is to never let my body

get hungry and go intp stravation mode. That's when the body stores

fat, and stops burning energy. Also, the body will burn muscle

instead of fat unless you stay in the fat burning zone while

exercising. I eat small frequent meals. (Watch out for the energy

bar trap.) Milk products have lots of sugar and additives that I

stay away from. Your diet sounds good. How is your iron and

ferritin levels? Vitamin D? Vitamin B-12?

The Adrenals lag with Hashi's, too. You may need to look into that

as well.

Welcome!
