Guest guest
<< Maybe lay your workout clothes out on your bed and the minute you walk in the door from work...go straight to your bedroom and get into your workout clothes. Don't think about how tired you are....just go change into the workout clothes. >> That's the only thing that works for me if I have to work out in the evenings. I don't let myself think about it - I just do it. As soon as I walk through the door, I change my clothes and push play. If I sit down for a minute, you can forget it! I won't do it. And most times, after I've done the workout, I don't feel as tired and run down as I did before. I prefer working out in the mornings, but some days I just can't make myself get up early enough to do it before work.

Guest guest
Talia, Welcome to our group! I assume from your address that you are in Israel? About not being encouraged by success stories because the people are younger: WRONG!!!!!!!!! LOL I'm almost 46, and I'm doing great (other than a bad knee). My accomplishments have been over the last 3 years. I am not alone in this...there are others in our group who are in their forties and above and getting healthier, leaner and fitter by the day. ;-) Anyway, regardless of age, we are a motivating bunch of people. I just wrote to someone else who was upset by her lack of motivation that if I follow up on my commitment to do just 10 minutes of a tape, I ususally get jazzed up enough to keep going to the end. Just a suggestion. You can do it! ;-) F > Hi everybody, > I thought I would check in since I just joined yesterday. > I haven't been doing so well with Taebo over the past period of time. Guest guest
Talia, Maybe on the days when you are completely wiped, you could just do the 8 minute workout. Whenever I pop in the 8 minute, it usually gives me such a burst of energy I end up popping in a basic workout as well. Even 8-10 minutes a day of exercise is a great way to start and do something for yourself and your health! Guest guest
Susi, Thanks for the welcome - and the encouragement! I believe that one day I am also going to be a success story. I consider myself a paradox in that my main interests are health and fitness and sports, eating right, etc., etc., (and I have had this mindset all my life!) but I don't have the lifestyle or the look to prove it. When I first saw the advertisement for the Taebo tapes, I was really drawn to it because of it's incorporating martial arts type of moves (which I like) and it was not your standard type of workout (I have never been attracted to aerobics classes and workouts on that style). I really thought that this (Taebo) was it for me. And I still believe that it is. I just fell off the Taebo wagon. As I had mentioned in another post, for the first month or so I was doing Taebo almost everyday. But after suffering from a bad chest cold, once I recovered I did not, and have not yet got back on the wagon. But I'm getting there, and like I said, I'm going to be one of those success stories. Guest guest
Thought I would just check in. I don't really have anything special to say, but I want to let you all know again how encouraging it is to read all of your posts. I think most of us are able to maintain our various levels of success because of the encouragement we are getting from each other. I read ALL of the posts and I save the ones with tips on different things. (The water thing was great. I printed that out and use it as reference material!) I just want to say to all of us who think that we are not going to succeed or make it; or that we can't make it past 5 or 10 minutes worth any given tape, etc., etc. It's been said many times that the most important thing is to just push PLAY. It's also better to do 5 minutes on a regular basis than not to do anything at all. If we stay consistent, we will find that we will little by little increase our time and we will, at some point, find that we are going to the end of the tape and we actually feel GOOD! I'm the one who was sharing about being wiped and not being able to do ANYTHING by the time I got home at the end of the day. But I have decided that I will at least do SOMETHING, and that's what I am doing. I'm making some progress, and I believe that everyday right now I will just keep making more progress. The key is perseverance. I just want to encourage everybody who is struggling to just keep moving forward and not give up. Slowly, slowly... (I apologize for the rambling) ------- Talia Adar Jerusalem Post Tel: (02) 531-5639 Fax: (02) 538-8408
Guest guest
<<(I apologize for the rambling)>> Talia Don't worry about rambling we all do it, and more often than not it's inspiring, like yours was today, thank you. Sometimes it causes us concern because someone is going through a crisis or problem and we do what we can to support and help, and of course there are times when it's to try and help someone through. Other times its can be humorous or just commentary on live. So in my book rambling is a good thing. You were saying about being wiped out when you get home, I used to try to 'psyche' myself up on the drive home (about 40 mins) and do a workout as soon as I get in, now I'm finding that I get 'fidgety' when I'm home if I don't do something active (chores sometimes have to take precedence over TaeBo!) It's also *the best* stress reliever so is a great 'closure' to my working day Jill who only managed one early am workout this week and realised I need more sleep! Guest guest
Jill, Thanks for the input. As as result of these posts I am actually getting motivated more and more. I don't always have the time (lately) to " Push Play " , but I am doing some of the moves (i.e., sets of punches, and kicks, etc.) in between chores. Another one of the problems I am having is with my floor. I have tile floors and I tend to slide during some of the moves on the tape. This concerns me because it's difficult to stay with the right form as a result. I just bought some shoes that are made for martial arts and have soles that are supposed to keep you from " moving around " . I don't want to workout in my barefeet because on these tile floors I have absolutely NO support for my feet. I'm thinking of buying a carpet for my " workout area " and maybe that will help. Re: being wiped out. I ride the bus home and since my 40 minutes home is on the bus, it's very passive and therefore my energy level goes down quite a bit by the time I get home. I that all this is mental - why? Because since I have first shared about what's going on with me and the workouts (or lack of them) I have been following the posts everyday (work day, that is, since my computer is at work and only during the week can I follow them) and am extremely encouraged. In the last week I find myself getting closer and closer to getting back into a REGULAR routine - and it's ONLY because of the encouragement I have been getting here. Thanks again for YOUR input, and thanks to everybody for taking the time to put your 2-cents in. It's really necessary for all of us!
