Guest guest
That is correct, they have a window of opportunity to apply for Part B without penalty. The same is true if they have a group insurance and they elect not to take part B. Should their insurance (i.e. CIGNA for one) require them to have part B at the end of their 30 month Medicare coordination of benefit period they can apply then without penalty too. Dialysis start date:2/2003 (he did not take part B at this time either)If he is transplanted, that should start another qualifying event to enroll in B and not have to pay the higher premium, correct? Pt has Tricare as secondary payer. Thanks in advance-Michele Snyders
Guest guest
Michele, I believe Tricare, in order to pay secondary, requires Medicare recipients to enroll in both parts A & B. Pt should contact DEERS. Guest guest
I agree w/Regina on this, I believe Tricare acts as a supplement if their member is a Medicare beneficiary. Guest guest
Tricare Standard does supplement Medicare. Tricare is always the payer of last resort , just like Medicaid. >>> lmorriso@... 7/28/2004 11:50:42 AM >>> I agree w/Regina on this, I believe Tricare acts as a supplement if their member is a Medicare beneficiary.
