Guest guest
, I must agree with you completely! I have given up wheat in the past two weeks and noticed a HUGE difference in energy (even though I tested negatively for Sprue). (I'm already vegan, so don't do dairy.) I am eliminating all processed foods, as well. This has made a big difference already! Of course, it means changing a lot of habits... but, once I get into the swing of this new way of doing things, it will be fine. At this point, it is enough for me to know that I will feel better if I keep it up - so I won't slip down the easy trail of convenience and comfort (my biggest comfort food is mashed pototoes!). What's really ironic is that just today I was reading about the raw food diet (again). I found a site just today called Raw and Juicy http://www.rawandjuicy.com/shelly.html in which a woman talks about her health problems and what she did to overcome them. I was reading through and thinking I need to really give this a try... a serious try! I have a book, I purchased it a month or two ago, called Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine by , Md. Cousens and have read through much of it, but need to purchase a food processer. Last night my husband said he was interested, too, and we may pick one up soon! I'm interested in hearing more about how you made the transition, what books you purchased (if you did) to help with recipes, and how support for this has been. But I had a lot of hypo symptoms, especially the chronic fatique. I got no where with traditional doctor's so I went to naturopathic care. The ND did more blood tests and I found out I was severly anemic, I had high cholesterol (and I was a vegetarian!)and red and white blood counts that were wacky. They also tested my FT3 and FT4 (the endo refused as my TSh was "normal". My T3 was low. It's been several years since my diagnosis and all my thyroid levels and other blood counts are normal now (I still don't use thyroid medication).I immediately changed my diet to vegan. Gluten intolerance is very common with Hashimoto's and even though I tested okay for gluten intolerance, I found getting off of wheat (and diary) made a huge difference in my fatique level. I also removed all processed foods and all stimulants (coffee, alcohol etc). I've since gone to a raw diet and I have never felt better in my life! I can't believe the difference in my energy - going from waking up to feeling like I've been hit by a truck to bouncing out of bed in the morning!.I was the same as you - I ate a potato and I would gain 2 kgs !. Very frustrating. I would be careful about dieticians. Most are highly conservative and don't follow healthy diet plans. What diet did they put you on?. Dried fruits are very high in sugar (and toxins) - you'd be better off eating fresh fruit. Are you taking the molasses for iron?? Again - it's very high in sugar and will only add to your fatique. Boosting your vitamin C level via fresh food will help your iron levels a whole lot more. This "disease" and it's symptoms can be managed by a healthy diet for many of us. It's a lot of work - but it's worth every step. Vancouver> > Hi everyone,> > Thank you all, especially for sharing your experiences. I read > some of your previous messages and learnt a lot.
