Guest guest
Thanks & Kim, at 13,000 this would be equivalent to my Bamix which I loved and did a superb job! The newer model has 17,000 at high speed. Jan Flood oakridge@...

To form emulsions aka creams and lotions, you need energy. As I recall, this has something to do with the Gibb's Free Energy. You can use mechanical energy, chemical energy or chemical energy. High shear stirring/mixing can be used to make a beautiful, luxurious emulsion that can never be made in a production enviroment without some changes. High shear mixing can and will breakdown long chain molecules. As in Carbomers. I've seen many creams and lotions made by homecrafters that depend on high shear stick stirrers and would not be stable otherwise. Emulsifiers produce the chemical energy. To me, a well made emulsion uses a blend of heat, mechanical and thermal energy. I think formula should be effective and efficient. In my experience, most contract packagers do not have high shear mixing equipment. That's why we have emulsifiers. Maurice -------------------------------------------------------- Maurice O.
