Guest guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 >> I have found that Metamucil is a wonder drug for the surprises that opiates leave us with. I hope that those of you who haven't tried it will give it a chance. << Hi , I tried All-Bran Buds with psyllium (which is what Metamucil is) and it gave me terrible gas pains. I am fine with regular bran (although I hate eating it as cereal because it goes soggy in aboout 30 seconds - at least the Buds stayed crunchy). I have found that bran muffins with raisins or chopped up prunes in them does the trick for me. Unfortunately my back has been in such a bad state since mid-November that I haven't been able to bake any because I find getting the pan in and out of the oven very awkward. Also my appetite has nose-dived in the past couple of months so I'm not sure I could eat them anyway. Right now I am making do with trail mix full of seeds and raisins, and dried fruit. Sometimes I have to take Colace/docusate sodium for a few days or use a glycerin suppository. I know this is a personal subject, but we are all dealing with it so it's good to swap remedies. Does anybody have a solution they swear by? Diane in Vancouver, B.C., Canada Quote
