Guest guest
>Once we started treating his bowel issues, his autistic behaviors improved DRAMATICALLY. Jane< Will you please share the treament protocol. Does it include steroids for inflammation? Also, for those who have been on the GFCF diet for many years do you think it would still show up? Tristan is better on the diet. He is able to sleep well, and when he has a dietary infraction we know it by behaviors. He is still nonverbal (lack of language skills but a verbal stimmer) and moderate to severe autism. He was worse though before starting the diet. He also was much more gaseous and bowels were unformed before we started the diet.
Guest guest
I saw Dr. Krigsman a year ago. At that time he liked his patients to do four things: the diet, a prescription anti-inflammatory (my son takes pentasa), probiotics, and secretin. I don't know how he feels about methyl B12 shots, but my son does those too. We started the pentasa in November 2003. My son's biggest and most worrisome symptom had been rages, and they completely disappeared. Dramatic decrease in anxiety. We added the diet back in in January 2004. All signs of inflammation (eczema, asthma, etc.) continued to improve. Added daily nasal secretin in February--dramatic improvement in bowel function. By the way, if you're not in Austin, it's not crazy to commute to see a GI specialist. We only had to actually see Dr. Krigsman twice. Now I talk to him on the phone if I need something. I did the diet for a year a few years ago. We were a little fuzzy at the time on whether or not we actually saw any improvement. Apparently son really needed everything at once. I don't know if you mean when you say " do you think it would still show up? " If you're talking about the test, I don't know--we never used that test. I think that if your son has inflammation (and I'll bet he does--I would bet money that anyone who improves on the diet has inflammation) that Dr. Krigsman would definitely be able to see that in an endoscopy. No steroids. Jane > >> Once we started treating his bowel issues, his > autistic behaviors improved DRAMATICALLY. > Jane< > > Will you please share the treament protocol.
