Hey Blair,

I said I agreed with "most everything" Mike said. Really I was

uncomfortable with the "fool" remark. But that's okay, I knew how he

meant it. Email can seem harsh, even when you don't mean it.

Honestly, I have purchased powdered kefir too for my coconut juice

kefir as I didn't want to use my grains for it. They change their

reproduction when you move them to coconut juice and I didn't want to

sterilize them. I knew my coconut juice making would be sporadic, and

it certainly has turned out to be. Easier to just keep a little kefir

starter juice in the fridge for 30 days until I need it and use a

packet every few months or so.

Your post below made me smile. I have the same worries, feelings, of

putting my foot in my mouth, getting blasted back when I do and I can't

take it well, and still being a learner. No one has "arrived" really

in the area of all this. I am always open to new ideas, thinking etc.

when it comes to health issues. I am not open to new ideas with other

things (religion, politics, "I know Whom I have believed and am

persuaded..." etc.) but with health topics, yes yes yes. Bring on the

information!

Hi,

I'm one of those 'fools' that used the powder 'synthetic' kefir

starter. (I bought it before I knew better, and was determined to

get my money's worth.) To answer the original question, I got as

many as 6 batches out of one packet.

I find myself holding back from posting because 1) I tend to put my

foot in my mouth. 2). I can't take the criticism when I do. 3)I'm

still learning.

Sometimes the culture on this board is a little homogenized.

(Sorry, I couldn't help it.) :-)

I love it though!

Ducking and running,

Although somehow I don't think that's what " they " had in mind when they

talked about good bacteria ...
