Hurrah to from another raw milk lover. Microbes and all. I mean in the milk, of course.

Raw milk vs. Raw vegetables...

Hi Guys,I thought I would share an idea I had for responding to the dreaded "RAW milk? Eeeeewwwwww!" that we've all had to endure when explaining our little secret to others. Whilst cleaning a potato the other day, I had to scrape a little mud off with my fingernail as the cold, running water wouldn't loosen it, and I started thinking about the relative cleanliness of foods in the modern diet. Now maybe some of you clean your vegetables a little more thoroughly than I, but I know a whole lot of us just run water over them, tear or chop them, and throw 'em on the table. If you consider where those vegetables have been, you'll realize that raw milk coming directly out of a cow's teat into a clean container is a whole lot more sanitary than your average garden salad. The next time someone looks at me like I'm a freak for drinking my wonderful raw milk, I think I'll remind them of the life story of raw carrots, lettuce, apples, etc.:1) Begin life growing in the ground or in a tree, exposed to insects, worms, beetles, rodents, animal feces, rain, etc. - and that's just the natural stuff! Never mind what's in the ground water, the air, and the chemicals liberally sprayed on the plants.2) Get harvested, either by farm equipment or human beings, neither of which I imagine is perfectly sanitary at the time, and then get dropped into bags, buckets, or crates, which are seldom, if ever, washed.3) Get loaded onto a truck, possibly open-air, and hauled to market, sometimes over great distances - 'nuff said.4) Worst of all, sit on an open store display for days or even weeks, to be manhandled, breathed on, and maybe even sneezed on, by everybody and their mother that walks through.Hmmm, do you think the cold water rinse helps at all? Of course not - the point is, we consume tons of assorted contaminants every day of our lives. Raw milk is probably the cleanest food we could eat, and more importantly, raw milk actually works to defeat all the little "uninvited guests" we get from everything else! Here's to clean living,PLEASE BE KIND AND TRIM YOUR POSTS WHEN REPLYING!
