Guest guest Posted May 20, 2001 Report Share Posted May 20, 2001 Hi Mona, I did try a chiropractor and an acupuncturist, I must have been herxing really bad at that time as I just could not complete the treatments, now that I am feeling somewhat better I should try that route again. This was around the time I was seeing every doctor I could as I was applying for SSDI. Thanks for thinking of that for me! I also saw an orthopedic doctor who treated me for carpal tunnel, gave me cortisone injections in both hands and no relief at all, he wanted to operate then too, but I never went back. I may drop a lot of things but the pain in the hands is lessening so I can live with this for now too. It is all probably related to the disc anyway. I told her that my hearing was coming up the next week for social security disability. She says " well, we never found anything, you know " . She spoke a thousand words in those few. I couldn't let it go so ended up calling her and asking her what she meant by that - that I sure was hoping she wasn't one of those doctors who believes that if it doesn't show up on xray or in a blood sample it doesn't exist. Well, I told her the SSI was for chronic pain, car accidents,Fibromyalgia, and chronic Lyme disease. She said " there is no such thing as chronic Lyme disease. Once you're treated, you get better and that's the end of it. " Needless to say I was enraged and I told her that I felt like she just totally invalidated all the years of pain and suffering I'd been been through. So, my question is - does anyone know of an article I can send her that describes the presence of chronic lyme disease and what people go through? She is very naive and ignorant but I think she is teachable. Please email and let me know if you have any suggestions.
