Guest guest
Hello! I am an attorney/SAHM who resides in Knoxville, Tennessee. I am a consumer of raw milk, but relatively " new " at it - three months. I recently joined a local Weston A. Price Foundation chapter. A local farm in the East Tennessee area supplies organic meat/dairy products to most of the members. The sale of raw milk is illegal in Tennessee unless it is for pet consumption only. The farm has one dairy cow and the demand is increasing for their dairy products (mainly raw milk). The farm cannot afford another dairy cow. At the chapter meeting today, there was discussion of a pet-sharing program (several members purchasing a cow, " boarding " her at the farm, and then the farmers simply divvying out products on a monthly or bi-monthly basis for so long.) Can anyone supply be with sample contracts of these arrangements? What about drafts of release of liability forms for the farm? I am a member of the native-nutrition listserve as well. Oh! And I have two beautiful healthy children under the age of three. Nanette Landen

Guest guest
Nanette.. You don't need any legal aggrements to get milk at this farm. Simply get the drinking public and those who wish too together and fork over 200.00 each,(10 families per cow should do it) buy a good cow keep it at the farm in question and pay the person doing the work for the work, feed ect. You can base the payment on the milk production, but you are not buying milk for it is "YOUR cow". The worker (farmer) sends you a labor bill each month, end of legal hassle. You will have to work out a small bookkeeping system and have a petty cash fund for vet bills and ect, plus work out what the heifer/bull calf arrangement is, as well as if the cow should die on you.
