Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: Barb H To: Hello, We started drinking raw milk in 1997 when a friend started milking there cow that was given to them. We didn't know that it was illegal (deemed by the state of Iowa) to buy. We were not big milk drinkers but really enjoyed this real milk even though it was a holstein. A year later we moved to Illinois and found a dairy to get real milk from. They had Jerseys. We still were getting it because it tasted so much better(especially in the spring when they were on grass). During this time we were finding out the health beifits. In !999 we were searching. My husband was working in a factory and not liking it. He was eating whole foods, no artificial, preservative or dyes, no sugar, or white flour. Well, when you take this kind of food to work around people that don't understand, you get ridiculed. In 2000 we decided to leave the security of the factory income to do what we knew was right for us. We started to intern on a dairy. Learning a lot we moved on working at a few dairies that needed help. Know we are milking A cow of our own. Strictly organic grass fed only. Yes we have a Jersey. We are Chapter leaders for Nourishing Tradition. We are presently stewarts of a 320 acre, rotationally grazing, organic, soon to be bio-dynamic, farm in Iowa. We have Angus , Katahdin sheep, Jerseys, Layers, Broilers, and Possibly getting a milking goat. My daughter is working on getting a horse. And in the spring my son will be doing Bees. We have not bought nor drank pasteurized milk in the last 7 years. My mother and father both enjoy coming over for real milk. My father fearing Raw milk or something would not drink it until our son personally asked him. he has had it ever sense. This was a big step for someone that drinks store skim milk to have whole raw milk. Other people that we know that could not drink (digest ) past. milk get along great with raw. We also are giving a talk on "A house cow is this for you?" at the Nebraska Sustainable Ag/ OCIA conference this Sat the 14th in Lincoln Neb. We have also hand trained Dairy cows for homesteads. I hope this isn't to long. Bountiful Blessings Barb and Mike

How much do you sell your hand-trained Jersey heifers for? Might be interested. Thanks, Sara L.
