Dear Ms. Young:

I came across this controversy a couple of weeks late, but want to assure you that there are many of us obstetricians who do not consider normal fertility to be a disease, to be removed from the body of a normal woman. It follows that the normal consequence of sexual relations during times of fertility is pregnancy, also not a condition in need of surgical or medical ablation. I have no idea what the "qualitative studies" of the post-abortion women who were selected showed, but have encountered a lot of women who exhibited post-abortion syndrome. I hope your decision not to publish the article was based on more than business considerations, for instance, science.

As an old MGH alumna I take no joy in the fact that one of the authors works at the MGH.
