Guest guest
Helen, I just wrote you a long, detailed message with attachments, hoping to send it to you off-list. But I don't have an email address for you. Please send it so I can respond to your request. Peace, Ann son CCL PR Lansing MI Pre-cana NFP presentation My husband and I are an NFP witness couple for our parish pre-cana (marriage prep) course and we are looking for a general NFP presentation to provide a backbone to our talk? I know Janet has a great 50 page powerpoint presentation on the One More Soul website but I'm struggling with the download. We have a total of 30-45 minutes to speak and spark some genuine interest from a very tough audience. This is our first talk and would appreciate the help. Thank you.Helen LaFrance, PA-C
Guest guest
If this is a group that meets several times, you might try giving them Janet s tape (with or without the question sheet) , Humanae Vitae, a Bishops letter on the topic and an NFP brochure a week or two prior to your visit. I use such a packet for RCIA groups and then have the packets returned at the time of the presentation. Topics to consider including: Our spouse is a gift and this becomes even more special in following God's plan for sex in marriage. The child is a gift of that love How is NFP unique to all other methods of birth control - They often haven't heard what is wrong with unnatural methods [even sterlization which is happening at younger & younger ages] We are fertile as a couple and don't know our fertility until there is a child. [unnatural methods have the potential to decrease our fertility, as does age etc.] How is NFP different from calendar rhythm (NFP most hear doesn't work) [modern scientific signs rather than antique model based on averages] The Truth will set you free. Encourge learning NFP to become knowledgeable - esp. about the woman's body & God's 'natural' way of planning the family Family planning is a couple responsibility. Give examples of successes of spacing or avoiding & conceiving (perhaps your own experience or no names) There is always so much to say but pick the topics that will best inform and excite their interest. Give them a handout with contact information for questions and class registration. Guest guest
I give about 10 Pre-Cana talks a year, sometimes with my husband. My format is as follows: - Introduction - Background and History - Why we made the decision to use NFP - Some facts about NFP - And Questions and Answers I get the best success by handing out 3 x 5 cards before the presentation and ask that everyone please write something on the card that will be collected towards the end. It can be a comment or a question. At the end, I stand up and answer every question that is posed. It's also fun to ask what people think NFP is during the introductory comments. Another idea is to have a list where couples can give you their e- mail that you can correspond with them after the Pre-Cana regarding NFP. I find by giving my e-mail, I don't get much response; however, when I can be the one to initiate contact I have made some progress. Good luck again and God Bless! s, FCP Ridgefield, CT > My husband and I are an NFP witness couple for our parish > pre-cana (marriage prep) course and we are looking for a > general NFP presentation to provide a backbone to our talk?
