Guest guest Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 You have to change your workouts every few weeks.steve doane wrote: I've plateaued a couple of times. What I do now is to make each workout very different from the previous. I.e. If I did five sets of long slow contractions per exercise on Wednesday, Friday's workout will be 20 contractions for definition ending with a last 10 second long hold. Then maybe Sunday 10 reps holding for 90 seconds at 30% strength at the end. Stuff like that. Idea is to trick the muscles into working.Ramses Pharoh wrote: Hi friends,I would like to know how does one avoid plateaus while using the bullworker.I have been using Bullworker 3 for about 5 months now and the progress seems to have reached a plateau.Thank you for the excellent responses to my earlier querries.Warm Regards. Guest guest Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 First off, you have to define what you mean by plateau. If you mean that you are not able to see strength increases on the BW meter, then that is what we can work with. Secondly, strength tends to develop in a fairly even and straight line when YOU FIRST START TO TRAIN. As you get stronger, you approach some practical limits on how much stronger you are going to get. This is natural and everyone reaches a place where your strength gains get slower and then simply stop. So, what to do? Well, for most folks, this is fine. Put another way, they are already stronger than they likely NEED TO BE for everyday concerns. Getting stronger then is more of a head issue, not a need issue. If you want to push on and try to get stronger, it is simply useful to know that this is more of an ego thing than it is a health or need based thing. If it were me, I would look at what strength athletes do to increase their strength over a period of years. In fact, they normally " wave " their resistence in cycles that go up and down in weight regimines. This usually is worked out over a six to eight week cycle. With weights, this is fairly easy to do, as you simply change weight on the bar. with isos, not so easy. The closest thing I can think of to do with the BW is to play with the amount of effort that you exert. So, you may work in eight week cycles where you start with say, 60% of your best effort and each week bump that up 5% to end at max contractions. Then, take a few days off and move back to 60% again and repeat the cycle. If this works like weight training, the amount of movement on the BW meter at the end of each cycle SHOULD indicate that you are getting stronger. I have never tried this myself (I am happy with my current strength level) but it SHOULD work. Anyone who does try it, let us know. thanks > > Hi friends, > > I would like to know how does one avoid plateaus while using the bullworker. > > I have been using Bullworker 3 for about 5 months now and the progress seems to have reached a plateau. > > Thank you for the excellent responses to my earlier querries. > > Warm Regards. > > > --------------------------------- > Do you have a question on a topic you cant find an Answer to. Guest guest Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Since you are happy with your current strength level you are probably on more of a " maintenance " program. Could you please give a sample of your work out and frequency? Gert Koelbel wrote you can maintain your strength with a work out once every 7-14 days. Pete Sisco and Little say the same thing with their Static Contraction Training and Little's Max Contraction Training. Do you agree? > > > > Hi friends, > > > > I would like to know how does one avoid plateaus while using the > bullworker. > > > > I have been using Bullworker 3 for about 5 months now and the > progress seems to have reached a plateau. > > > > Thank you for the excellent responses to my earlier querries. > > > > Warm Regards. > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Do you have a question on a topic you cant find an Answer to.
