Hi everyone, Happy holidays. I have been with for sometime now. I write

on occasion when I think I can help and I do read everything. It's my turn now

to ask for some opinions and help.

I have CMT 2. I have high arches my ankles bow out and my heels are turned

inward and I am walking on the side of my feet. I am 50 years old. I was

diagnosed in 1993. but have always known I had something wrong. I have all the

associated problems: pain,

difficulty walking and my hands are weak. My feet roll so bad now I am

struggling.

I have done the AFOs and braces. All hurt my arch. Great for standing in one

place but not for walking. I go barefoot a lot or wear heavy sneakers to keep my

feet from rolling.

I finally went to a new foot doctor for orthotics. He is going to try to make

them with wedges and have it molded so that my heels don't slide. This doctor

said he is familiar with CMT and has done

surgery to correct the deformities and said he feels the orthotics will give me

slight relief but that is it surgery that I will ultimately need.

The front of my feet are fine, It's my heels that are the problem..Also he was

amazed that one of my legs is thinner then the other. He says CMT is

symmetrical.

My left leg is perfectly normal looking, my right leg is stork like.. I know

most of us know that term from CMT symptoms, but both feet have the same look..

My question has anyone else experience heel surgery and or foot and ankle

surgery for CMT? and does any one else have different size legs or have heard if

this is uncommon with CMT.

What surgery has anyone had to correct their feet especially the heel. This

doctor just was a bit perplexed and now has me thinking maybe I was

mis-diagnosed. I am thinking seriously of the

surgery, and I know I need to research.. and I figure what a better place then

here with people who understand and can help point me in the right direction..

I was doing so good until this past year.. I took such a downslide.. I can

barely walk... thank you

Carol
