Guest guest
Hi Colette, What a beautiful introduction. You sound like a very inspiring person who could bring some sunshine on cloudy days. Wow, I've never heard of anyone with type 1A and type 2A. You are very " unique " . I'm glad someone has friends in the government, LOL!!! All they do is take my money !!! How old are you? (If you don't mind)? You said you were just diagnosed, I didn't know they still did nerve biopsies. I had one done in 1988. You will find alot of good info. on this site which will be helpful in your new journey in the CMT world. There are lots of twists and turns on the new road you are about to travel so remember that " knowlege is power " . Some Dr.s are dorks when it comes to knowing anything about CMT. I hope you have a good doc who really understands the disease. The answer to you question about telling your work place. I told them when I interviewed for my job position over 12 yrs. ago. It didn't seem the phase them (I think they were just desperate for fresh meat entering the nursing profession on a busy med-surg floor). Years later when I transferred to a Home Health position, I again told the supervisor about my disease and how it affected me. Good luck on explaining it to them since most people have never heard of CMT. I'm sure it'll be fine. Just tell them, there's no other way around it.
