Guest guest
I just want to jump in here and say that some babies do not get a first breath right away and some babies get a breath to soon. I think it is too common of an occurrence to say CMT is responsible. I just hate to give CMT too much credit. (mother of 5)
Guest guest
Hi , We completely understand that it is quite normal for babies to not take a breath right away. What isn't normal is to have paralyzed vocal cords. As we (and the doctors) have searched for possibilities about why our baby has bilateral vocal cord paralysis, we discovered this reference to CMT and felt it prudent to alert the doctors that we do have this in our family. That is why I joined this forum, to see if we could get some more information about this particular symptom in CMT. Believe me, we don't want to hear that he has CMT and we are quite confident that it isn't the case, but since so far no one has been able to find any reason at all for his paralysis, we are checking all possible options. We've been referred to Genetics at SickKids and are planning to meet with them in the coming days to review the situation, my uncle's history and formulate a plan from there. Best regards and thank you to the group for pointing me in the right direction for more information. Suzanne
