Guest guest
i am not sure about others but with my son Emerson who is four, we are having some trouble now restraining him.he is a big boy. we went to sonic and he saw dogs on the other side of the street at a vet and animal hospital. he attemted to run straight way into traffic if his brother sam age 10 was not a good sprinter we might not have an m. this is the way it has been m everywhere into everything. it is harder to control his behavior now that he is not such a small child i can simply hold in my arms. Guest guest
This might seem like a harsh solution, however being squished by a car is even a worse consequence!! Have you tried putting a harness on him?? When we were at Disney, we saw plenty of children wearing them. Just a thought. Nat was horrible about this, still has difficulties at times even at 10yo! Good Luck!! Irene mom to Nat 10 MDS, Luke 8, Emilia 5, Lilly 3, and Isaac 10 mo, also Membership Person too!! PS- I probably know this, but what does LDS mead?? Guest guest
That is so scary. I know how you feel. My daughter Molly will be three next Saturday and, although I WANT her to walk more places (32lbs is a bit much for Mom to carry!), I know I don't have as much control over where she is when I'm not carrying her. This past summer, I wore a pair of backless sandals with a tall solid heel to church one Sunday. When we were leaving, I stood Molly beside the car while I opened the door. The next thing I knew, she was running right toward the road! You should have SEEN me half stomping, half running to catch up with her and " head her off at the pass! " With her being Deaf, I don't have the luxury of simply calling her name and expecting her to stop! Even with the cochlear implant, when there is a lot of backgroung noise she simply doesn't hear me! When I was young, single, childless -- and NAIVE -- I used to think those spiral " leashes " some parents use to keep their kids closeby were horrible and degrading. Now that I'm a parent of an active almost-three-year-old, I can certainly see their usefulness. You might try one of those. Guest guest
I wrote my response before I read yours. I believe only a non-parent would think that harsh, considering that the alternative is an injured -- or worse -- child. Guest guest
, I wanted to add: Tell Sam he really is a Hero! That was great of him running after his brother that way!
