Steve,

It just seemed like lately most of the statements I was putting up

for inquiry were expectations of one kind or another and I wanted to

take a closer look at that.

> " If you want pain, make a plan. "

I'll have to remember that one though! That's a keeper! ;)

Marsha,

I could very much relate to what you wrote.

Expectations seem to be what Mind does. It must be it's job and it

does it very well. :-)

Earlier today I had the thought " Why can't I remember not to get

caught up in believing that the expectations of the mind are true?

Then another thought came, " Because you want to. " There it was. I

will awaken tomorrow expecting to see a " blue sky " and believe that I

must go to work, etc., etc., on and on and on, because Steve wants to.

But that is not a problem, it just seems curious sometimes why Steve

continues to believe it? I know, it is so Steve can appear to exist,

but why does that seem so important? I guess it is Steve's job to

appear to exist until he doesn't?

Always liked the ACIM story that this illusion is a place where we

mistakenly believe we can hide from God, because we fear his

punishment for our " sin " of separating from him.

Of course I can not know whether or not this story is true, but it

does offer one possible explanation for why I continue to hold onto

my separate self and why forgiveness is so important. Have a

beautiful day :)

***** " We " separated from him? Who is this " we " who was *not*

separate and then all of a sudden became separate? If there was a

time of non-separation, then this " we " you refer WAS, at that time of

nonseparation, God. If there was just The One (call it God,

Consciousness, Energy)....then how is there ever more-than-one? Yes,

there may be an appearance of duality, but then that rope appears to

be a snake also. ;-))

*****Another possible explanation is that you are not the one doing

the holding onto. The holding on happens, but you don't do it.
