To each his or her own. I have my ears pierced (once)... and for me that is

more than enough. They alone have caused me enough problems. I personally

don't enjoy talking to some people who have their tongues pierced because SOME

people do talk with a lisp... or can't keep their mouths still... and they

remind me of someone with tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movements usually

caused by having to take anti-psychotic medications).

HOWEVER... again, in life... having something pierced is a personal choice.

Going in to surgery, however, leaves you in the doctor's world... not yours.

The doctor's goal is to perform a surgery with the greatest success that he or

she can achieve. And, thus.... they must hone their playing field to just the

primary requirements to achieve that success. To me... it is silly that a

champion swimmer shaves his/her body... just to gain that infintesimal fraction

of a second in which to win. BUT... it must work!

In this surgery there is approximately a 1% chance that a person will die. By

gosh... if I could narrow it to .99999%, I would... and I would do nothing to

increase it to 1.01111%.

Now... is it about time to leave this subject? I think the doctor will have the

last say. Amy... if he chooses to let you keep them... then hooray for you.

And... if not... then I guess the decision will be yours whether to proceed. In

the end... the doctor calls the play when it comes to surgery
