Guest guest
I have probably been hypothyroid since a teen. I was just diagnosed coming up on 2 years now and I’m 43. I wasn’t doing great but after having a bunch of dental work down (crowns, root canals and yes, some mercury filling removed), I went into a downward spiral. I don’t know if it was necessarily the mercury or just all of the trauma to the head and neck area. Are they still allowing mercury to be used in fillings? The dentist I go to now will not use them. Did he think you hadheavy metal toxicity? I go to his PA and she has never mentionedchelation to me. Do you have a lot of silver fillings? If so heavymetals could be a problem, but I would think replacing them beforechelation would be more appropriate. It could be adrenal problems. Guest guest
Unfortunately, the ADA partyline remains that amalgam/silver (aka mercury based) fillings are safe: http://www.ada.org/prof/resources/positions/statements/amalgam.asp My personal opinion is that it's all to protect their a**es against law suits like we're seeing finally happen for the mercury in the vaccinations. The worst part of the ADA mercury position is that there are still pediatric dentists that believe mercury is safe. There have been dentists who have lost their licenses for telling patients that mercury wasn't safe. I feel fortunate that the dentist I use no longer uses mercury. He has tried to tell one of the pediatric dentists in our area (that I unfortunately took my kids to when they were younger) about the issues with mercury, but the guy won't listen. I've also had this discussion with medical doctors (including pediatricians) and they too unfortunately believe the ADA partyline, likely because if they question that, they also really need to question the vaccinations. And, yes, they were supposed to remove all the mercury from childhood vaccinations several years ago, but it has taken a while for the vaccines to be used up AND the flu shots they still recommend for kids still contain thimerosol. But, even then, vaccinations still contain lots of toxins, some of which are listed in the Mark Starr book on Hypothyroidism as negatively impacting our thyroids (bringing my point back on topic for this list B. > Are they still allowing mercury to be used in fillings?
