Guest guest
The scale was not in San last month either. You would think that they would have some sort of arrangement to always have a scale at ALL the meetings. It is somewhat upsetting that we all pay our program fee so that they can hold these monthly meetings, we show up for them like we agreed to prior to surgery and they can't have the scales there. I had my surgery in May and have attended EVERY meeting in San since then and they have only had the scale there ONE time. I live a little far from Delano to run down there every month to get weighed. I'm very upset that yet again I will be unable to weight. How are new post-ops to know if we are doing what we are supposed to do, if we are losing at the right rate of speed? I have no clue if I am losing pounds or just inches, I don't know if I am slowing down or doing what is right. Jo, I thank you for passing this information on to us, I called the office on Thursday and they didn't know if the scales would be there or not, so I really didn't get an answer. I realize it is not your doing that the scale will not be there, I just needed to vent. I know in the last month I have started eating more carbs, again last month the scale was not at the meeting, as well as it was run by a member. So, there were a lot of questions that I didn't get answered about my progress. Thanks for the information. Cheri

If I were you I'd dash off a letter to the office explaining your disappointment and how much the scales being there means to you and your progress. If others feel the same way then have them also write. At least they will know how important it is to you. Right now things are in flux, with Dr. Z no longer doing the DS. They are still figuring it all out. I don't think this will really help you but just to let you know. After about 3 months I stopped weighing at the support meetings...I weighed at home and when I went for my followup appointments. The weight I always go by is my scale at home. For one thing I feel the one at home is consistant and I am able to weigh at the same time everyday...you know the " scale rules " after going to the bathroom, naked, before I drink/eat anything. When I weigh at Dr. K's office/support meetings It is always at a different time of day, with different cloths on, different amounts of food/drink for the day.....It just made me crazy. So I tracked my weight from the scales at home and tracked Muscle/fat%, at office appointments. It kept me sane...Well sane enough. Guest guest
I agree with jo about using your own scales at home. I kept track of my wt every day and then averaged it out over the week and over the month and so on I did this to show my mind that the scales go up and down I only recorded the lowest wt and an the end I all ways showed a loss take care amber Re: Support Meetings for Sac, San , Red Bluff, Uk...
