Guest guest
I hafta jump in here. I hear your story and I think you are saying there is no such thing as empathy. But.......you also say " humans can only feel the pain of the story they are believing about someone elses pain. " Damn, thats' my empathy!!! I keep thinking we are all saying the same thing but making stories about it so we give it a twist to make it " special " to us. Doreen Re: Righteous Anger! (Barbara .. Be interested to know why > what you call your 'connection' with others ... > Barbara I hope you still want to play. LOL ... here we go again. I hear that you have a story that was showing empathy, but of course that would be impossible! can't feel anyone elses pain, I can't feel anyone elses pain, no one can feel someone elses pain; humans can only feel the pain of the story they are believing about someone elses pain. Now without any stories we are all one in love. In a state of love, nothing else exists, no world, no pain, no bodies. World, pain, bodies only exist because I believe a story that they are real. Just some thoughts Loving what is, angel, and that would be you. Neo
Guest guest
I prefer to feel compassion and understanding to feeling empathy. Compassion=a tender, open heartedness; kindness and tolerance. Understanding= consciousness and awareness. Empathy= identification with..., to sympathize and project. Guest guest
Actually your definition of compassion and understanding is what I get when I speak of empathy. As I said, it's my story no matter what the dictionary might say. DOreen Eddie Katz wrote: I prefer to feel compassion and understanding to feeling empathy. Guest guest
Doreen, You can hold onto your story if you choose to. You can also open up to a new perspective if you choose to.
