Guest guest
Hi I have a question regarding the common working file with Medicare. There are times when a patient has a Medicare card with all their info on it but the CWF doesn’t show any records of the patient eligible or termed. How else do you verify coverage with Medicare because when I call them I just get a big run around. Thanks for your help.. Guest guest
It is weird .. I've had it happen tome as well. I don't know how long it takes to show up in the system. Iwould guess it depends on case load. When you call tell them pt doesn't showup in the working file, and that's why you are calling. Good Luck! I never thought about that. I have triedto call the 800 # on the card I just don’t seem to get far with them. When a patient has applied for Medicare and is accepted how long does itusually take for the system to show? I ask this because I have had somepatients that provide Medicare info and the system will show them beingeligible like a month after they contact us but then I have others whohave the card and the system doesn’t show anything. Just weird to me. Guest guest
sometimes if the patient's services billed to Medicare were outside your region, the patient's record is linked to that region...IF that is the case and IF you are able to do an eligibility search in other regions, do that, sometimes the patient's information will show in the other region. Guest guest
I have found there is very often a longer time lag with Medicare if a patient has been receiving Social Security disability checks (for less than 24 months) and then becomes eligible for ESRD Medicare. These Medicare applications end up being hand processed and often sit in an office in Baltimore, sometimes for months. For patients new to the Social Security system when the apply for ESRD Medicare the process often happens quite quickly as it is all electronic.
