Guest guest
Warm greetings, RP, I read your pain & feel for you. I'm 67yo & also in California north of Sacramento. I've had chronic pain from scoliosis, arthritis & DDD for over 40 years now so I do understand. The only pain pills that ever helped me, even with the concurrent depression, has been Darvon or Darvocet. All others haven't worked so far or cause too many horrible side effects worse than the original problem. So I relate to you on that score. Many accidents & painful events later plus increasing spine/neck deterioration & natural fusing, I've now got way more spinal problems & current Rx med changes for pain for accompanying hip bursitis which has helped a bit but not nearly enough. My x-rays look like I've been in a train wreck. It's so depressing. I too, will be soon seeing a pain management doctor my GP is finding for me. Tho I haven't heard from her in a week about that so must call her tomorrow. I hope they can help me more as I'm largely inactive, live alone with no help, family or friends around & having a rough time, especially this year. Chiropractic adjustments have helped me get this far with only one back surgery to move a nerve imbedded in scar tissue about 15 years ago for my horrible sciatica. It's reimbedded again no doubt but my new chiro has been helping me with the pain a whole lot tho Medicare won't pay for any more visits this year. So now I have to depend on the medical community only & myself. As for not getting pain relief from many Rx meds & they're keeping you awake, that's often caused by an excellently functioning liver from what I've heard/read about that. Two people I know of have livers that process the Rx meds right out of the body almost immediately, seeing them as a toxin or poison. So they don't work at all. I know one 45yo woman who's had multiple back surgeries since age 18 with nearly all metal up her spine who's got that kind of liver. The only pain medication that works for her is the highest doses of morphine they give to cancer patients. She's been on that for years & years now with no ill effects from it either. Whereas it could kill any other person. My younger daughter with severe stenosis of the spine & other back problems, also can't find any pain meds that help her much. Again, her astrology chart (I'm an astrologer) shows an excellently functioning liver (Jupiter in Cancer). Wife & mother of four boys, she's tired suicide a few times because of the pain. Doctors refuse to give her anything as strong as morphine as well. There might be other reasons pain Rx don't work for you. But I wouldn't know what they'd be. I also have many chemical sensitivites so am highly allergic to many medications including most antibiotics. It's the pits really so I empthasize with you. Hope to read more from you on here & again, welcome among us. It's a great group. Don't know what I'd do without it except go stir crazy as I can't do much else anymore, even housework. Guest guest
Excellent, in one felt swoop you gave me more info than any dr has so far and it makes excellent sense. When I was in to see my Edocronologist the last time she was telling me the results of my liver and kidney fuction tests were remarkably excellent for all the medications I am on and that it shows that my body is doing a perfect job of passing all the meds out quickly. I guess in the case of pain medication that is not necessarly a real good thing. LOL Thanks for the info and the rest of your feedback as well.
