Hi, I just thought I would pass this on to anyone who might live in the area and be interested in a night out.This is being hosted by a biomed support/resource group and it should be a fun night and a place for some fellow biomed parents to meet. authors of a breakthrough book, Shut Up About…Your Perfect Kid!, will give an imperfect presentation on April 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Old South Union Church located in Columbian Square, South Weymouth. Located across from South Shore Hospital and the Cameo Theatre. Parking is available on the side street and in the parking lot across the street from the church in front of the hospital. Their presentation, The Movement of Imperfection, explores the humorous heartwarming side of raising an

imperfect child in world pre-occupied with perfection. Patty and are among the growing number of American parents raising children with disabilities (Patty’s 13 year old daughter has bipolar disorder; ’s 11 year old daughter has Asperger’s syndrome). To get them through their daily struggles, they rely on two things: humor and support from others. Their book and presentation features a collection of entertaining and heartwarming stories, theirs and others from parents whose children have a wide range of disabilities. It will have parents, educators, nearly anyone, laughing out loud and viewing the absurdity of perfection in our society today. A few of the struggles discussed include: Us vs. Them Battle: “It’s hard to hear about how good their kid is on the baseball field, when yours would rather catch real flies.” Medication: “We’ve met parents who feel guilty for putting their kids on meds…for not putting their kids on meds…even for taking their kids meds.” Sports: “Do we have to follow the ball, Mom? It’s more fun following a bee.” Social: “I’ll give you some bubblegum if you play with my daughter.” About the Speakers: Gallagher, the sister afraid of failure, is a freelance copywriter and owner of a successful marketing communications firm, Gallagher Communications, which she founded in 1999. A winner of the Advertising industry’s esteemed Hatch Award; is the professional choice of many of New England’s leading businesses. She is also the creator of House Arrest, a weekly humor column that appeared in Community Newspapers throughout Massachusetts 2002 – 2004, which explored weighty and controversial topics, such as the “Psychosis of Self Employment,” “Christmas Tree Rage” and “Life with Senior Parents.” A graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, MA, resides in Marlborough, Massachusetts with her husband Mike, daughters and , dog Max,

and countless carpenter ants. Patty Konjoian, the sister afraid of success, is the owner of Champion Video Productions, a full-service video production company specializing in event and sports videography. As a creative independent, award-winning videographer/producer, Patty’s primary talents are in the area of sports recruitment videos that help student athletes achieve scholarships. She is also an expert in crank phone calls. Patty earned a Communications Degree from Bridgewater State (the college not the prison) in Massachusetts and resides in Andover, MA with her husband , daughters nne and , son , and dog Rocky.
