Guest guest
Marie, a lot of MH folks mistake anxiety for a sign of depression and treat with meds for depression that only peripherally treat the anxiety. It helps to emphasize your KO background and hypervigilance, that it truly IS anxiety, not depression. Many times the anxiety meds will allay the obsessive worrying, hypervigilance, help nerves thus ridding us of depression, ironically. Have you tried buspar or effexor, combo of those?- jana __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Marie, >>First let me explain why I have major problems with the meds. I've tried a lot of them and once they figured out oh you can't breath let's correct that as well as moved out of the immediate danger zone the house, antidepressents backfire bad. Usually they either screw up my memory like nobody's business knock me out to the point where I get more depressed because I'm not getting anything done, and get into more problems at work screwing up because I get so tired on them. Mind you this is the low doses as well. What an ordeal! So drugs make things a lot worse for you, not better. That seems really frustrating! >>I read one book on helping get rid of it without meds, however the reccommended thign isn't appropirate here since we can't trust nada not to lash out. So ideas??? Oh, I don't know. Sounds like a really stressful situation, though. What do you think you'll try first? -Ivorysoap
Guest guest
It strikes me that this topic connects to the subject of sensory overload, since anxiety and hypersensitivity feed into each other. In my own experience, the usefulness of regular excercise in controlling the anxiety just cannot be overstated. It's so simple, but it has an amazing effect. Of course, you may already be doing that... Ivy
