Hi a,

As Kaylene said in her reply, Verapamil is a channel blocker and vasodilator. I

have used it for several years as a double duty drug to help with my migraines

and high blood pressure. I haven't found it to be that much help, but it does

make a small difference to both, so that is why I continue to use it. It is

just one of several drugs in my migraine arsenal.

Other drugs that doctors prescribe are beta blockers and they are not safe for

us asthmatics. Since Verapamil is a channel blocker it is the choice for

asthmatics with migraines. Not because it will lessen our asthma, but because

it won't make it worse.

Hi a,

I was on Verapimil for some time, and it did help with the migranes. It's

actually a bp medication and something about that helps to lessen the frequency

and strength of a migrane. I stopped taking it, I can't remember why. I'm

going to start back on it again, because I'm getting the migrane more and more.

Hope this helps. They say it can cause dizziness and to get up slowly from a

sitting or lying down position.

I used Verapamil about 3 years ago for chronic migraines. It worked

great for about 6 months, and then gradually stopped working. I

have not found anything else since that works.
