Oh yes, I am a recovering pack rat! I used to keep just about

everything, because in my quest for perfectionism, I was sure that

eventually I would get around to doing something with it....or it was

just too good to get rid of....or I really should keep it

because....! LOL!

I am now getting rid of it all. I buy into the theory that the

physical clutter around me is a reflection of the mental clutter

inside of me. I still have some things in a holding

pattern.....sometimes it is hard to make that decision, when you are

so used to doing what you think you should do, instead of doing what

you want to do.

> Hi Sylvia and Edith,

Help, I am standing in the middle of my clutter trying, in vain, to

clean out.

Each trunk, closet or cabinet I empty seems to find its way into one

of the newly empty spaces.

Two cards loads ago I thought it was all under control, I see now it

was only hiding. By the way I get very nasty during this process

when someone thinks I ought to be done.

Vicki....guess I will visit fly lady.

Edith,

I joined Fly Lady a few months ago. For those who don't know, among

other things, FLY is an acronym for 'Finally Loving Yourself'. I

have my morning routine down pat, but still having trouble in the

evening. (I have always had trouble at the end of the day, when I

come home from work. I believe it is because when I am out, I am

more the 'real' me. When I come home, the ghosts of my childhood

come to haunt me.) I am not to where I do everything...but I have

seen great improvement in what I have done. My daughter, who

was 'born organized' has noticed on her visits home how much nicer

the house is. And I am happy because it is not because I have been

cleaning none stop for 15 hours! Sometimes, when I am really

overwhelmed with something, I use her 'you can do anything for 15

minutes' philosophy to get me out of that mood. Sometimes, I just

say I'm not gonna do anything today because I don't wanna! The

difference is that I now understand that I am choosing what I want to

do, not just being some programmed robot. I would recommend this to

anyone who is having trouble getting/staying organized, managing

their living quarters, etc. The web page can be overwhelming.....the

thing to remember is that you start with baby steps, and you don't

have to do any more than what you can handle.

Vicki,

Definitely, check out this site. Use what you can, don't be

overwhelmed by all the emails you get. When you sign up, you will

get about 15 messages a day. Most of them are reminders of different

parts of the program. I delete whatever I don't want to read. It is

a minor inconvenience for me, and something I am willing to put up

with because of the benefits to me of the rest of the program. Feel

free to write directly to me if you have any questions about this.

Be kind and gentle to yourself,

Sylvia
