Guest guest
Any advice for the first few months? Thanks. > ================================== ahhhh , your at the point that everyone just gets sick and tired of being sick and tired! lol...it will get better, but I know it seems like it is taking forever. Keep sipping your water, all day and night whenever your awake....eat slow....Try to do alittle more each day and expect that somedays it's like you've had a setback and you just don't have the energy to move. Judge your progress not by the days but by " is this week better than last week " . People hit that magic place where they are feeling better, or can eat/drink better at different times. Some people make amazing progress in 2 weeks. Some people take 2-3 months before they feel like they will survive...and this is without even having complications. Keep hanging in there! Guest guest
Satrah, Welcome to the switched side. My advice for the first few months is patience, yes I know it is hard to do but all the little problems will pass in time. It will be some time before you can drink the water easily, just sip sip sip until then. The discomfort will pass soon also....Sorry about the major complications, sure hope all is well now. If you are not off your diabetic meds now, hope you will be soon. PW lap ds 7-15-03 down 148 pounds 78% EWL 5' 3 " sw/cw/goal~(healthy) 320/172/??? > Hi Everyone, > > Well, I did it. Guest guest
Congratulations and welcome home ! Sorry to hear about the complications but glad you're getting better as the days go by. As for the water, have you tried it at different temperatures? I couldn't stand anything except ice cold in my first few months. Also, you might try other liquids like tea, Crystal Light, Sugar Free Koolaid, etc. It does get better but as far as how long it takes, that's different for each person. But, it doesn't last forever! It really will get better day by day. Tracey > Hi Everyone, > > Well, I did it. I had the surgery. Guest guest
Tracey, I am drinking herbal iced tea which goes down much easier than plain ice water. I am drinking about 5 to 6 glasses of liquids per day which is enough to sustain me until I can drink more. I feel so confined to my house right now. I can't go outside because I live on the 3rd floor of the apartments. I have to climb 4 flights of stairs if I go down them. I spend all day drinking my tea or water and when I am not drinking I have to eat a little something. Tomorrow marks the 3rd week so the swelling should be going completely down soon. I am just thankful to be home and able to care for myself. It is also a humbling experience to have to rely on others to help me with things like cleaning my house and shopping for food. I am still not used to feeling full most of the time just from drinking the liquids. I am still very weak. But, I am focusing on the positive because I know it will get so much better, that what I am going through now is just temporary and knowing this helps tremendously. It will all be worth it someday. -- **Wake me up from the nothing that I've become** -------------- Original message -------------- Congratulations and welcome home !
