Hi Dana,

The pain you are describing could be sciatica. It's a very deep pain that

can travel all the way down to your foot. I have it 24/7 in my left leg. The

last surgery I had on my spine the doctor said it looked like a bomb had gone

off on the nerve root. I use ice and heat to calm mine down.

Donna,

I got little relief from medications for buttock and lower back pain from

fibromyalgia. I now have an electrical stimulator unit. A 45 minute treatment

will reduce my pain perception significantly. I have had to do two or three

treatments on occassion back to back to succeed in getting adequate relief.

Over a period of days the pain is reduced and spasms are almost eliminated. The

problem is the time it takes to do one treatment, let alone two or more,

especially with my busy schedule.

I use hot baths and increased exercise along with significant weight reduction.

Building the strength of lower back and buttock muscles does not eliminate the

pain, but it does mean that muscles are more able to work correctly and sustain

increased activity without detrimintal problems.

When everything else fails I will take a muscle relaxer. I always take one at

bedtime to help reduce the painful spasms and regular pain so I can sleep

restfully.

Thanks Ray,

Not much helps me either. I use Soma on top of oxy. if the pain is real bad.

Sometimes Tylonol too. Of course my back is not fybro, I burst fractured it on

the inside and broke my tailbone. They never cared enough to exray my ribs or

hips but I hurt like a devil more and more in those areas. I think the whole

body is going to hell in a handbasket. Day to day, right? Thanks for the input

anyway. Donna

Hi Ray

Is the electrical stimulator like a TENS unit? I have a TENS and I have an

alpha stim..just wondered what you were using.

Thanks!
