Hi and welcome to the group. Sounds like you have really had a time of

things! I think you will get all the understanding you need here and people

who really know what you are going through. I have been here for quite a

while now and I still get so much from the group. I have friends who try

and be sympathic and understanding but as you well know, you really can't

'get' chronic pain unless you have it...unfortunate but true.

<<< Then I had a dorsal column stimulator implanted in 1995. It worked for a

little while then every time I turned it on it made the pain worse. >>

I have a spinal cord stimulator and have had it since 2000....still seems to

work well. The only problem is, it only helps my leg pain and I still have

lots of back pain I need to take high doses of pain meds for. I am

considering a morphine pump but am worried about the exact things that have

happened to you. Would you ever consider getting another one? My doctor

says that in all the years (12 I think) that he has been implanting pumps,

he has only had to remove one for infection. I thought that was pretty

encouraging. We are going to discuss me having a trial when I see him next.

I would appreciate any advise you could give me.

Anyway...again, welcome to the group and I hope you get what you need here

and I hope your pain levels are as low as possible.

Take care,

Ann

Hi Single Mother of 41,

Not kidding you, I know your pain all to well. Have not had any back surgeries

but have a fractured back that healed wrong cause no one found the fracture for

5 months. It is a burst fractrure of T 12, happened in 91. Since then I have

gotten arthritis in every consivable place, my hands and hips are the very

wrost. Of course there is the shoulders and knees too but the hips and hands

are the worst. I also have degerative discs in my spine, high blood pressure,

hypothyroid, chlostrol and take antidepressants. The worst is my back and hips

and on rainy days my hans kill.

I have some idea of the pain although; I have never had surgery in my back. It

is too risky. If it fails, a 75% chance I would be wheelchair bound. No thank

you. Just give me my meds.

Glad you are here and hope we can all offer some consulation. I know how it is

when you can't get anyone to listen or they just sluff you off saying they know

when they have no idea of the grief and agony you sustain. Donna
