Okay, with all the pet chat I have some questions of my own. The apartments

we live in just passed a rule about free roaming cats (I think it was there

before, now they are going to enforce it). Our two furry babies are pretty

ticked off about having to stay inside. They have tried every window and every

door. The male has taken to being a royal pain in the butt by chasing the female

and trying to get her to fight. This used to be a rare thing, but since they

have now been housebound for 6 days it is happening several times day. I got

a cat harness and leash, but since they are not kittens I don't know if they

will take to it. It is worth a shot. Any ideas? Anyone?

Wear gloves, long sleeves and goggles incase they try to run up your

body to scratch your eyeballs out!

Ok...I have no idea how to train a cat...but if you want to know how

to train a 1500 pound heifer to walk like a baby on a leash without

dragging your butt to where they want to go...now that I can help

you with! lol

Actually some of the technique may work. With the heifers we would

halter them, then tie them to a post for a few days. This taught

them to respect the halter rope...that they weren't going to go

anywhere that rope didn't want to go. (of course they were always

tied with food and water available)

Perhaps if you tied your cats with the halter for a few hours each

day it would get them used to wearing it and learn that the halter

will win so they won't 'fight' it as much when you do take them

outside???? Who knows...

Jo

Who's youngest son always managed to have the heifer full of piss

and vinegar just like he was.

My mom has 4 cats, (LOL, at 25 and 30 pounds I think they are more

like mountain lions!) But she was able to leash train them by leaving

the harness on for several weeks until they got used to it, then

attatching the leash and leaving it on as well. She had to watch out

that they didn't hang themselves or get caught on anything though and

it was a real pain for a while, but after a while, they adjusted and

she was able to actually leash train them. LOL, not a job I envy

though! Cats sure do have a mind of their own and especially cats

that are used to going out when they please! But it is worth a try!

LOL......if they really start making you too crazy, there are always

mild tranquilzers that can help with the getting used to being inside

period, (for the cats silly, not you!!!)

Good luck!!

Let us know if you are able to leash train them!

(or will we hear the howls from there?)

HUGS!!
