Guest guest
Has anyone had a child who has a vitamin E deficiency? What does vitamin E influence? with everything going on with Macey I really haven't been that adamant about keeping up with vitamin e supplements. it's been a year since the level was tested. should we retest? Could a vitamin e deficiency influence any of her symptoms? Guest guest
On the topic of nutritional/dietary supplements, quite a few studies have shown that zinc deficiency is highly correlated with lowered immune status. These studies have been repeated by Dr. Cunningham-Rundles of Mt. Sinai, a CVID expert, and she showed that taking zinc supplements could improve immune status in people with CVID. I don't think they're the root cause of any of this, but I know I'm taking zinc supplements now... anything to help. I'd written to her to ask about some research she did, and she personally recommended getting my zinc levels checked. If you'll remember, a few years back, zinc became the fad additive for cold meds and cough drops. I think there's some merit to this, but my guess is that it will help a lot more if you can keep your levels up regularly, instead of counting on it to work only when you've already gotten sick. As with everything else, it probably takes a while to have its peak effect. Just a thought...
