Guest guest
Dear Group, Several new member have stated that they were afraid when they joined the Group. It took me 5 yrs. to get properly diagnosed, so I never felt afraid. "Allergic reation to bug bites" didn't sound so bad. By the time I finally had a name for what I had, I'd been going into remission on my own, so I knew I was not going to die of erythema nodosum. I also was relieved to know EN wasn't contageous. I hope Everyone's fear is deminished to know that while EN is painful [and may interfere with your ability to participate in life], it can be dealt with. I have been afraid when my EN was especially flared up and my leg was swollen, red, and felt like it would explode. But I kept reminding myself that I had gone into remission before, and I could do it again. Fear, in my opinion, floods the body with bad chemicals. It is an emotion that makes everything worse. Confidence in your body's ability to recover may actually change your brain's chemistry and make you feel better as it works to mop up the toxins. I know this is simplistic, but medical research is finding out more and more about how powerful the brain is, and how it interfaces with the health of the body. So while we are looking at physical ways to improve EN and health in general, I think a good dose of relaxation and confidence will improve you chances for a quicker remission.
