Guest guest
Hey Debi! You sure do keep an eye on things from up there in Alaska! I quietly put that photo up the day after my 1 year anniversary. Thanks for noticing! I am back from a QUICK trip to California where it was wonderful to see those I got the chance to visit with and I am sorry I didn't get to visit longer with many of you. Dr. Z says I am doing very well, have some low iron I need to work on getting up there. After the meeting I came away persuaded to be very diligent with my calcium and ALL my supplements. I am happy to report from Magic Mountain that any ride I " chose " to try to get on fit just wonderfully and I felt incredibly happily joyfully NORMAL. I liked the Colossus but couldn't bring myself to try the loopy looking ones. I got dizzy just looking at them. I walked from opening to closing without tiring and it was a truly fun day. Mel thank you so much for posting your 1 year update. I so enjoy and feel encouraged by everyone's story. Yours is especially poignant. Those of us that know how it feels to be truly obese as a teenager share a special bond of walking through a bit of hell on earth. You have been through so much to get to where you are today. I know that many people will become much slimmer than I through the miracle of this surgery. But I also know that not one of them will be more thrilled reading the size of jeans that fit them than I was the day I got in the little car that I had to stop driving as I was too big to reach the pedals and look down and see this incredible amount of space. Not a day goes by that a new miracle doesn't present itself to me. Life is good. This is directed at NO ONE but I have been reminded lately of a paragraph from the poem Desiderata by Max Erhmann that helped me get through some of those difficult teenage years. This one pops out of the recesses of my mind every once in a while. " If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. " We each are making our own journey and each and every one of us is a success. Sure I can't help but wish I had Sharon's tiny waist or Jo's normal proportions. But what I have gotten is so so so far from where I started that I just stop to count blessings more than anything else. my switch sister you stopped and explained to yourself how far you have come on YOUR journey! Congratulations! You have made incredible progress. I too struggle with the food " issues " every day. For myself trying to add exercise has helped me to feel some control over it all. Like others have said I think water exercise is a terrific way to go, I did it at over 350 pounds. Well, enough catching up yakking! Glad to be home but already I miss my California buddies. Hope to see some of you in six months! Hugs!

Guest guest
Hi ! I just looked at your new pic. You look wonderful! And I don't care what the charts say, you certainly no longer look obese to me. You look average, like so many of the rest of us. Ain't it wonderful to be average? Hugs!
