Dear Doctor's Data,

As a customer, I would like to let you know my families situation as it regards your tests. We have two nine year old autistic boys in the family, a grandmother with heavy metal problems and at least three other people we would like to test. Our doctor knows NOTHING about any of the issues we have faced in the last 6 years with autism and has told us he doesn't have time to learn. All he is is a signature on a form for me, and a $38.00 office visit although he often waives it. One child is on Medicaid and so far it won't pay for many tests, unless done at their approved labs. We are happy with the way your tests read and believe me, WE the family, are the only one who reads them. Our doctor loses almost everything we drop off for him to read unless we schedule a office visit and read it to him. I have gotten used to the idea that most modern doctors are technicians too busy to study these once rare conditions, and that I am the only person on this earth to have the time to devote to the care of a child with so many complex and interdepant conditions. If my doctor's son turned autistic he would be beating on my door for all the information I have tried to push on him for years. We also are missing test results since before Christmas. I have to admit that experts are very far and few between in Oklahoma. The ones we count on here are all parents, like myself who take the time to research, be online and wade the tide. So work with us are far as the law allows. Yes, I want a home test and results emailed or faxed to us parents as well as the doctor's very busy office. The kits should go directly to patients as well. I would like to see a home test kit for heavy metal toxicity like the tests for HIV, or with doctor's authorization for like six months worth of testing. These treatments can take years, with the parents as the responsible party. I mean my doctor is not getting up every three or four hours to give DMSA, or trying to convince a 9 year old to let me have his poo.

I would love to see a compiling of the data on all these tests of autistic children that we parents have sent in, surely one of the researchers working in this area could use the raw data to help guide a more formal study. I would give permission in a heartbeat to have my families tests included as a matter of Public Health.
