She looked at my previous thyroid labs: TSH less than 0.006 (.450-4.5) FT3 4.1 (2.0-4.4) FT4 1.67 (0.82-1.77) While these were when I was on synthroid and not Armour.. she said they are fine.. she said that most docs wouldn't like the TSH.. but she liked where my FT3 and FT4 were in the ranges. They took blood today to test my TSH and FT3/FT4 again and will call me later this week with results. She is using a compounding pharmacy for thryoid meds currently. She also reviewed my prior test results for hormones. She gave me a saliva testing kit - I am to take it next week on Day 21 and mail it in. She said she gets results in 10-14 days and will call me when they come in. She gave me a prescription for testosterone based on the labs I currently have - asked me to take it after my saliva collection next week. I have been alternating between 240 and 180.. the 240 gave me heart palps - so I really knew it was too much. Glad she kept me up there with the 180. I'm very excited to start the compounded natural dessicated thryoid. I am also going to do my saliva testing on Monday. Should have results 10-14 days after that. So far so good............ I'm new to this group and joined specifically to research doctors in my area . . .. I live in ville. I did a search on Dr. Gutsmann and she's in , right? I may give her office a call to see if she's accepting new patients. I don't have insurance and pay for all of my appointments, so hopefully she's not too expensive! The saliva test was $160 - which I did pay and have the paperwork to run through insurance if I want. I'm sure sure if she takes private pay or not, you would need to ask. Also - my disclaimer - is that I haven't seen my labs yet - since she changed my thyroid med, or my hormone lab results. I should be viewing those in the next few days.. I keep getting this seborrheic dermatitis.. and by its very definition it's yeast based.. " Seborrhea is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder that affects the areas of the head and trunk that have sebaceous glands. A type of yeast that has an affinity for these glands called Pityrosporum ovale may be the cause, but this has not been proven yet. " So I thought.. what the heck.. I'll try it.. I used Oil of Oregano as a topical.. and took Yeast Cleanse.. It's all gone.. all of it.. No more spots, no more itching.. So I honestly cannot say what is making me feel better.. because of course, I changed everything at once. I've had 3 acupuncture treatments now, I started compounded Armour and I started the Yeast Cleanse.. I'm not sure what/who to thank.. but hey.. it's working! Did she say why she decreased your progesterone? She told me that the progsterone Dr. Owens had me on was too low - it was 1% cream - at least thats too low for trying to have babies.. I met with her on Tuesday for about an hour - maybe more. I also loved her! My favorite thing about her is how healthy she appears! She is thin and energetic and her skin is smooth and glowing and her hair is thick and natural. I was very impressed. She was also very excited to hear I knew about bio-identical hormones and saliva testing. She said most of her patients don't know anything about them so she spends time explaining. In my case I had recent thyroid labs from December just prior to switching to ERFA. She wanted to wait a few more weeks to get a stable read on how I'm doing on ERFA and will then look at treating thyroid. We did go over my old test results, both saliva and blood, for sex hormones. I had very recent progesterone and estrogen results (from 5 days prior to that appointment) and she felt comfortable using that to prescribe a very low dose progesterone cream based on my prior history and experience using such from Dr. Owens. She gave me a lower dose than Dr. O and sent me to the Family Drug pharmacy to pick it up. I have only used it once because I was at day 26 in my cycle when I saw her, but I liked the progesterone cream. It didn't stink like some I've used and it rubbed in easily. I was also impressed that she took the time to explain I needed to rotate the place on my body where I apply the cream so that the progesterone doesn't build up in the fatty cells. I had read about that and was planning to ask her, but she addressed it first.She is also testing Testosterone and DHEA (blood) based on my prior results. I did not have recent tests for those. I don't have results from those yet. In fact, I didn't end up getting my blood drawn that day because her nurses were unable to do it. That was the only really disappointing part of the visit. I think they tried to go in too slowly and then they couldn't get it. I just about passed out. I have easy veins and was surprised they had trouble. That had never happened before. Other than that, it was great!I am going to send my husband to see her, too! I will continue to let you know how it goes. She seems very competent and caring and I couldn't be happier to feel I finally have a good local dr. for my hormones!
