If your contract doesn’t have anything in there about a lower payment for over 65, then they should be required to pay you the same as someone who is under 65. Get your state medical association involved if you think they’re in the wrong. Here in CA, the CMA is wonderful at helping us out when we think we’re getting cheated by an insurance company. Most of the times that I have called, they have already helped a provider in the same exact situation as the ones we find ourselves in. Did you know you can be forced to accept Medicare-level payment even if you opt out of Medicare? I have a patient with federal BCBS who opted out of Medicare Part B.
