One Year Anniversary X-Posted

This week marks my one year update. It sure doesn't seem like a year

has gone by, but it has (wow!).

The one thing that I think about, when I hear of someone considering

this surgery is how drastic this surgery QUICKLY changes lives. When

I visit someone in the hospital, I tell them, " Just imagine 6 months

from now...you have NO ideal! " . When I hear of someone " teetering "

with the ideal of having the surgery, I think to myself, " They are

waisting so much valuable time to make their decision...I wish they

only knew. " . It is truly amazing!

One year ago, I weighed in at 339 before surgery. Today, as of this

morning, I weigh in at 181, a weight loss of 158 pounds in UNDER 12

months. I am continuing to loose at least 10 pounds a month- on

average. What do I eat? I usually prioritize my protien- but their

are days I am just " tired " of the whole " protien thang " - and toss in

a bag of M & M's Peanuts, or a piece of english toffee from The

Chocolate Factory. I still avoid pastas...I also avoid " regular

bread " - mostly I eat sprouted grain bread. If I feel like a

have " lagged " on protien a certain day...I grab an Atkin's Protien

shake and drink it (I think I might have drank 10 of these in the

past year...so it doesn't happen frequently). The point is..I

actually do eat what I want...it's just that my " wants " have changed.

Physically, I feel okay-even with the other " issue " I have going on,

I have been able to drop the weight without " aggressive " excersize-

truley amazing! I take my calcium, multi's, iron, folic acid,

RELIGIOUSLY, and I can feel the difference if I don't.

The day of my DS, I was wearing (for comfort) 4X T-shirts and size 32-

34 pants. Today, I am wearing a size 34 jean..and can wear a medium

t-shirt. Again, differences happened so quickly..it was amazing!

I'm not going to make this too long...and go into HUGE detail about

my " changes " , and " trials and tribulations " - I mostly wanted to point

out what a HUGE difference having the DS has made in such a SHORT

time. I know everybody needs to find the place in their life that

places them where they should be when making such a big decision. To

anybody thinking of having this surgery...please know that every day

that goes by...as you are " just thinking " ...it is MUCH more exciting

if you are " on the other side " - where time will only play to your

advantage of a much healthier-happier life.

Okay..so... " blah..blah..blah..blah " - that's all I wanted to say-

other than, thank you all for your guidance and support.

What a wonderful and inspiring update Sandi! And you're absolutely

right! Those who go into this surgery have no idea how much their

life will change in such a short time. It's truly a miracle!
