After all, how SELFISH is that? _____________________________________________ , While I agree with you about what you say, I still cannot figure how this discussion got to be a slam to lightweights.... Nothing was ever said about lightweights. I just teasingly supported a friend and was called on the carpet because I said I didn't want to be a smaller size because I was afraid it might age me as some others have(Noone on this group). I HAVE heard from others who say they don't post because they feel they are not supported as much as others because they didn't get to single digits, or was sick of having to hear some people(no names here) refer to their size 10, 12, and 14's as their " fat clothes. My statements in the past were always if a 40 BMI can get approval then a 57 BMI ought to be a no brainer......I have no annomosity towards anyone getting surgery, just think the whole process should be fair and make sense, and not discriminate, as it end up. I do however think that some people don't give WLS the respect that it deserves....Gaining weight to get surgery, or undertaking revisions for vanity pounds.....I'd hate to think I ended up dying to lose 25 lbs..... in Bama VBG 1982 (lost from 433lbs to 270's) VBG -RNY1996 revision(Lost from 343 to 299) RNY-DS revision Dec 2002 -down 135 lbs (377.7 to 242.2 and still going) Homepage address- http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Many thanks to Dr. K willing to take on a 3rd timer....LOL
Guest guest
And to all those who call themselves " lightweights " . First off, I am of the belief that no matter what you weighed prior to surgery, you had to have had a medical necessity to get approved for it, or it would not be done. Therefore, NO ONE has the right to belittle or treat you with malice, simply because you ended up weighing less then what they wanted for themselves. After all, how SELFISH is that? As I've stated before, I researched *every* aspect of this surgery and talked it over with several people before I had it done. Knowledge is POWER! (And therefore why I am going back to school at the age of 35 for a speciality in Forensic Science) My husband also researched, and he can explain this surgery with the best of 'em! I had several co-morbs @ 318 pounds. That's not YOUR fault. It's no one's fault. I have lost a little over 150. Do I want to lose more? Sure. Doesn't everyone? Isn't that what makes us " normal " ? I would love to look as good in *my* clothes as my 14 year old does! But that doesn't mean I'm childish enough to write YOU and make you feel bad for it. Your body composition is different then mine. And let's face it, your boobs are bigger then mine too! Therefore, it's like comparing apples to oranges! (literally!LOL) However, I can also see the flip side of the coin, though only very faintly. As I watch the kids in our neighborhood....the younger ones that are a couple years younger or just the same age as my youngest, taunt, tease, and stalk my kids as they try to play in the trailer park too... they gang up on them. Anyway, as I watch this behavior, I contemplate *why* they act this way. The two families of girls that are doing this have several things in common. 1) They come from blended families. Both parents in both households have been married before, bringing in step this and step that. 2) Both parents work outside the home. 3) Both families have mothers who act as young as thier children at times. Meaning they are trying to friends " instead of parents. I then compare that to what my kids have. Parents who have been married since they were teenagers. No step this or that to deal with. Mom stays home to tend to the needs of the kids...ALL THE TIME. And as much as I'd like to be friends with my kids, I am first and foremost their parent. I CARE what they say to others, how they act towards others and the " air " they have about themselves. The kids that stalk and tease are only going for the obvious jabs.... " you're fat " , " You wear glasses " " Your mom is XXXXX " . And RUDE! these kids are 12 and under. But, I digress...the point is they are UNHAPPY with their lives... so therefore, they covet what they DON'T have.... and I think that's the case with the people writing you privately and calling you names...they feel bad about themselves and are trying to make themselves feel better.... YOU are better then that... and I love you! You are FANTASTIC And BEAUTIFUL and WORTHY!!! And most importantly, you are MY friend! Thank you for being that for me! (Hope this makes you feel better!)
