Can you post the article. I can't get into AOL's news.

If this isn't the same article, it will be darn close. I read it twice. Have

to admit -- the current American government and the Drug Enforcement Agency

(DEA) scare me more every day.

Here is my thoughts and I am about a third of the way through.

1. Since when do law enforcement officers have MD at the end of their names?

2. An honorary doctorate degree does not make Bush a medical doctor, nor

does being in the same proximity of the selfish one, make his cronies

medical doctors either.

3. Do all DEA officers hold a medical degree and are they medically

certified in the states in which they work?

4. " A rescheduling under the Controlled Substances Act would make it more

difficult for doctors to prescribe them and for patients to receive them. "

- So, they are basically taking the healthcare of the patient out of the

hands of the actual physician. Ohhhhh, this is just brilliant. Next thing

we know the DEA and Shrub will be trying to perform brain surgery.

5. " DEA Administrator Tandy confirmed at today's press conference

that the DEA was looking into the hydrocodone issue, and Food and Drug

Administration Commissioner Mark McClellan said there had been discussions

between the DEA and his agency on the possible rescheduling. Both officials

said, however, that any changes could take months or years to enact. " - Oh

boy, sounds like pork barrel politics to me. There goes that swishing

sucking sound of our tax dollars at work.

6. " A major focus of the new prescription drug control initiative will be

on the burgeoning use of the Internet to purchase controlled drugs. Tandy

said there are thousands of Web sites that pop up regularly offering

narcotic medications, often without a prescription or a doctor visit. - Do

they ever think that if chronic pain patients had access to adequate pain

medications that the need for such businesses would become nil?

7. " the DEA said it would use more Web crawler and data mining technology

to identify, and then prosecute, the businessmen behind the Web sites. " -

Hell fire, they can't even prosecute a sitting president for illegal

business practices in this country. What the hell makes them think they can

stop someone running a business halfway around the world? Again, that PR

machine is sucking more tax dollars and running up the tab for the election

year. The Shrub administration is talking out the orifice they deficate

from. They can't even get drugs out of the schools in THIS country, let

alone elsewhere in the world!

8. " Other federal statistics estimated that 6.2 million Americans misused

prescription drugs in 2002, compared with 2 million who used illegal cocaine

and 700,000 who used ecstasy. " - Where are the numbers of patients that

desperately need narcotic pain relievers and do not get addicted and are

able to live somewhat normal lives, raise families, and even if the moon,

stars, and the sun is aligned right are actually able to return to work at

least for a short period of time?!!!!!! Answer that one Mr. Shrub and

cronies.

I know this is probably not a very nice thing to say but I swear, I would

almost rather this country make drugs legal so that chronic pain patients

could get their hands on much-needed medication and be able to live out a

normal life than have to jump through the perverbial hoops the government

are forcing us to jump through. The dealer at the end of the street will

stay in business until he is either an old man or is killed by another drug

dealer. Yet, poor FM, CFS, lupus, etc.. patient will be dead long before

their time because they were denied not only pain medication but also

maintenence medication to keep them healthy enough to one day marry, or see

their children born, or see their children marry, or God-willing - to see

their grandchildren born and be able to enjoy them without pain taking over

their lives.

I would rather a chronic pain patient overtake a drug every now and again

and have at least one good day than be left unadequately treated to the

point where that one person would rather leave this Earth than spend one

more day in pain.

It just burns me up.

I didn't mean to get so carried away. Please forgive me. I just feel like

this administration has made sure they go after the least of this countries

worries. Why aren't they bringing jobs back to this country? Why aren't

they working on a national health plan? Why aren't they stopping the

overflow of illegal aliens into a country that cannot even begin to care for

the people that are already here. Why are they trying to force rapists and

child molesters to spend more time behind bars instead of being released

early, not because of good behavior, but because the prisons are

over-crowded.

I don't know. Maybe I am just a person that expects my government to

actually give a damn about the people that put them in office, current

commander in thief excluded of course because he wasn't elected, he was

selected.
