Guest guest
I actually have had to back down a half grain on the new Armour. I got flutters in the chest in the afternoon on the new stuff after a couple of months. With the lower dose, no flutters. I realize this probably doesn't make sense. Marti I'm sooo tired! >I have become very, very tired lately. I am not due for an increase in >Armour. In fact, I went up 1/4 grain in April and another 1/4 grain in >July (per doctors orders). Guest guest
Jan, I had said that I was doing ok on the new formula, but I am starting to wonder. I am in more of a brain fog lately. Just plain forgetful. So I am starting to wonder if it's the Armour. I'm due for my yearly in October, but I might go in early and have my labs run. Guest guest
Heart palps can also be adrenal or iron issues. When those are low and you add more Armour you can get heart palps until you get those resolved. Just my personal experience. Guest guest
I called my doctor. They are switching me to another med. Since I called Friday afternoon, it may take the weekend but I am looking forward to trying something new to see if it works. I guess then I need to call whoever makes Armour and complain? Will it even make a difference? Guest guest
, I had the same problem with the new armour. I had to back down from 3 1/2 grains to 3 grains. I still am having some issues, will see the doctor Aug 1st and talk about switching to something else. Guest guest
I felt horrible on the new Armour. A lot like you described; anxious, irritable, extremely tired. I have felt better the last few days, two of which I took sythroid and cytomel and then today I started my new Naturethroid prescription with my cytomel. Definitely ask your doc to try something else to see if it makes a difference! Guest guest
Both my husband and myself are optimized and are doing fine on the new Armour. We’re both using 30mg pills to make up our daily dosage. Both of my daughters are not optimized so I don’t think it really applies to them. Guest guest
The difference between Armour and NT has to do with the bio-availabilty of the thyroid hormone and your individual rate of absorption. It is not unusual for hypo/hashi folks to have absorption issues. > > > >> > > >> I actually have had to back down a half grain on the new Armour. Guest guest
Is there a conversion chart from Armour to NT? I have been on the " new " Armour for almost 5 months now.. I am going to decrease my dose a bit and see if it helps at all. Currently, I am exhausted. always always tired. I have brain fog.. bad memory.. can't remember names.. sometimes can't even remember the word for an item.. I have noticed that I'm more jumpy that usual and I am fighting OCD a bit (not clinical, just my personal diagnosis). I'll cut back my armour a tad.. see if that improves anything.. otherwise, I'm doctor shopping.. AGAIN.

Guest guest
There is a lot of interesting information on that site, including easily readable prescribing info. Hey! one of the fillers in the tablets is polyethylene glycol. PEG is the main ingredient in the HalfLytely that I had to swallow in huge quantities before my. . . .uh. . . . colonoscopy. . . . . >> Yes, Nature-throid has one on their website.> > http://www.nature-throid.com/conversionChart.asp > > > > Good luck! Guest guest
You may want to contact that Dr Pathak (sp) that Launius recommended. Most of the docs willing to Rx Armour should also be willing to Rx NT. I don't think Launius can prescribe anything but $ynthroid at this point. >> Jan - in the new Armour? Guest guest
, over the years of my illness, whenever I was told to add an iron supplement, I have had to add very slowly, due to stomach upset. I wondered how small of an increment you were trying to add at one time. I swtiched to Solgar Gentle Iron, when my other tablets were discontinued, which comes in 25 mg capsules. I actually spent the time to dump the powdery contents of each one out and divide into 1/4th's and put into gel capsules I bought. I would add that new small amount just once per day until I saw that I tolerated it. And always with food. I think I usually went 3-4 weeks to make sure it was ok. I know your tolerance issues are special and more problematic, but I thought I would mention it, in case you were trying to add a whole pill or capsule at one time. Also, have you discussed with your doctor adding Vitamin C? I was told it helps with iron absorption. I started adding it back in 2006, and my ferritin went up well months later. I was a lot higher than you with ferritin at the outset, maybe in the 60s. I got easily to the 100s. My issue, rather than ferritin, is getting iron into serum form. I remain low in that, although I am feeling lots better this year. i also eat beef daily. Just a thought about the Vitamin C, and please discuss first with your doctor. > > >I actually have had to back down a half grain on the new Armour. Guest guest
That's a good idea on the iron pills....no different than what I had to do to tolerate Armour.  Yes, I take vit c with my vit b's and iron (when I take it). I have not been good about eating beef since we adopted our son....need to make that a priority. Beef patties here I come , over the years of my illness, whenever I was told to add an iron supplement, I have had to add very slowly, due to stomach upset. Guest guest
, I just hit the tired wall with you.. I cannot put one foot in front of the other.. I am absolutely exhausted.. and I've been getting good sleep so that's not the problem either. Kim
