The only worry I can see is that is no air circulation.

Hmmmm.

You might be onto to something :)

I am not sure. I do know that in my kitchen once they start growing, sprouts

seem to do best with air ciculation.

That is just my house. Why not try the cooler out and see what happens.

Yes, those are the coolers I remember! I think shop rite might have them-forget

those 30 dollar ones-that's overkill for your purposes

I have one of those from when I used to go to the beach all the time.

I like to keep one of those foam ones in the car for when I food shop in the

Summer.

Great that I belong to a raw food co-op for my animals.  I have always hated to

throw the insides away, as the recyclers do not take Styrofoam. Good idea with

the summer months ahead of me in the Desert.

Did you see the movie " The Craiglist Killer "

I'm not going anywhere near that site.

For a couple of bucks, I'll go to my local place and they will get it

eventually. Taking a walk later to Biwise Pharmacy, they always have these

things there during the summer. They might have gotten it in already.

Even the local Niney nine cents stores carry them. I mean, they carry FURNITURE

for heavens sake.

You can walk into one of those ninety nine cents stores, and they have 10 rooms

of stuff, it's like going into a mall.

One day I was walking about 12 blocks from my home, and found this little store.

Well, it looked like a little store from the front. I walked in and I said out

loud " OMG " " . What kind of store is this.

They had rooms and rooms of everything under the sun, patio furniture, house

furniture, clothes, and of course everything else was ninety nine cents.

I had a ball!!!

(I'm not Beverly and hopefully Beverly won't mind my responding : - )

Yes, that's essentially how it works, Melody. I always ask for cash for

payment and usually offer same.

Craigslist is used for many things, including services (I once posted an ad

asking for someone to plant a garden for me [i provide the plants, etc.] in

exchange for me doing a pet portrait for them, and so, I had someone come

over with a tiller who did the whole thing for me!), jobs, lost and found, a

wanted section, events section, pet section, and more - the whole gambit.

As I said, I've never really had any bad situations, but one still needs to

be careful and exercise common sense. Having said that, I think it's a

wonderful concept and a great resource!

Sorry to hear that Beverly. And I don't really know how Craigslist works.

People sell stuff and other people have to show up and pay for it IN

PERSON?? Is this right?

No problem Melody.. it is just a shame that you cant trust people in your area

bummer.

I have never had any problem using craigslist.. you just have to be careful &

ALWAYS meet in a public place & preferably be with someone... being safe is #1!

Want to know another reason why I don't trust people that much in my area. A

few weeks ago my husband was riding on the bus with his cane. He can barely walk

but he gets around.

He needed to get off the bus and this man would not let him by. Since his bus

stop was fast approaching my husband again asked the guy to move, the guy

wouldn't budge and my husband just moved past him.

The guy decked my husband to the floor, eyeglasses go flying and he started

pummeling my husband. Of course my husband defended himself with his cane. The

guy ran off the bus. Unfortunately and because it was his time to get off the

bus, my husband followed the guy in where he worked. The police were called and

my husband demanded that the guy be held responsible. After hearing what went

down, the cop turned to my husband and said:

" If I arrest HIM, I have to arrest YOU because you had the cane and that's

considered a weapon, so you'd be charged with a felony. It didn't matter that

my husband was all bruised and bleeding. Of course no charges were pressed

because everyone would have had to go before a judge and who knew how the judge

would rule.

The point is that if you are accosted on a bus, and you have a cane, and you

defend yourself, you will be charged with a felony and have to plead your case

in court. It can be decided in your favor or not in your favor. I checked with

other cops and yes, that's the law.

Want to know another reason why I don't trust people that much in my area. A few

weeks ago my husband was riding on the bus with his cane. He can barely walk but

he gets around.

It didn't matter that my

husband was all bruised and bleeding. Of course no charges were pressed because

everyone would have had to go before a judge and who knew how the judge would

rule.

The point is that if you are accosted on a bus, and you have a cane, and you

defend yourself, you will be charged with a felony and have to plead your case

in court. It can be decided in your favor or not in your favor. I checked with

other cops and yes, that's the law.

Wow Melody,

I am so sorry that happened to your husband. I was once robbed on a bus, had an

attempted robbery a second time, and had some dude sitting across from me expose

himself to me.

These were San Francisco buses. In a lifetime of riding NYC subways I have only

witnessed one police shootout (back in the '60s on a Queens Train), and never

been bothered otherwise.

Nowadays, I rarely get the chance to ride a bus or anything.

It does make you wary.

:) happy Memorial day weekend!

And no one helped Alan? I think that's almost as bad as the incident happening

in the first place!

this really happened by the way.

LOL, Melody - I think this is just misdirected excitement over the

possibility of a new sprouting rack, given this group's predilection toward

new gadgetry and other sprout-related accoutrements!! I suspect it's

understandable!

Good for you on your cooling system. If only you could hone/refine it and

then market as a new sprout 'gotta have'! You could be rich, LOL!!

There is no NEW sprouting rack. There is my new cooling system in which I

placed my SproutGarden inside a big round tub and put all ice cold keepers

around it. Works like a charm to keep my sprouts nice and cool.

Who said there was a new sprouting rack?

lol

I wouldn't give up my sprouting shelves for all the tea in China.

Ahhhh LOL ok...that is what I get for assuming, I been trying to come up with

something to keep the sprouts at 70, coming into the summer here.  It will be

way over 100 most days, to expensive keeping the house much cooler then 76.

I went to Craig's list out of curiosity and found two ads from my tiny town.

One was a 22 yr old student at a community college 18 mi away looking for

someone to hang with, and the otherwas a Guy (age not stated.nor any other

particulars) offering room and board in a 3 bedroom 2 bath home to a woman

(must be under 40) in exchange for doing the housework and " occasional no

strings attached sex " . Can you believe that Guy? I wish I knew what

happened.
