Guest guest
Not at all peppery. My wife has a very sensitive mouth. She can't eat peppery of vinegary and she loves the French Garden. ew Re: micro greens EW: The French Garden mix. are they HOT sprouts?? I don't like HOT sprouts. Guest guest
EW. I've been reading about sprouting Dill and on Sproutpeople it says it takes 15 days to sprout dill. And French Garden contains dill as one of the seeds. So how long does it take to sprout the French Garden mix? Guest guest
I haven't had French Garden. But I LOVE the Mother's Mix!! I actually like it better than Russian Mix. MM is very sweet (not sugar-sweet, but greens sweet) and quite mild but tasty. It has clover, alfalfa, fenugreek (just for U!!), broccoli, 2 sesames, and garlic chive. The RM is more robust. Do try it. If you don't like it, I will pay you for it and pay the postage for you to mail it to me all the way across the country! How's that? I think you will love it!!  Peggy To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 15, 2011 6:30 PM Subject: Re: micro greens  EW: The French Garden mix. are they HOT sprouts?? I don't like HOT sprouts. Guest guest
Melody -- Sproutpeople sometimes use slow-growing sprouts in mixes, just to add flavor/texture. Their website says 5-6 days for French Garden (also my experience with this mix). It's okay if the completed mix has some sprouts that are just tiny, or even still a seed. Yes, some of the tinies will wash away with the hulls but the ones that remain can be great. Onion and garlic chives are two slowpokes that are also used in the mixes. They are so wonderful -- I'm still using up a couple of bags from two years ago that have been in the freezer. Molly > And French Garden contains dill as one of the seeds. Guest guest
Peggy: You're a riot. Not to worry, I have to make a choice on my next purchase. French garden, or Mother's Milk. Might get a package of both. I'm sure I'll like either one of them. Neither contains lentils or grains which I don't go near so I'm okay with either one. I use these sprouts as a base for my salads and I enjoy the taste more and more each day. I love the surprise of putting sprouts in my mouth and tasting a bit of the radish, etc. And I found something interesting. My husband bought a bag of those Terra Chips home. He did not read the front of the bag which said " MEDITERRANEAN " . He took out one of the vegetable chips and he was munching them and he said " What the H, these are spicy " I said " Spicy Terra Chips??? " I then looked at the bag, saw the words Mediterranean and said " oh, these must have spicy stuff added to the chips " . I tasted one of the chips. It had a kick. I now understood why Alan would never eat these kind of chips. Now I never eat chips of any kind. I don't snack on chips. But.. I do like to add some things to my salad to give it a kick. Guess what I did?? I crumpled up the bag of chips into tiny things. Like a bread crumb consistency. I didn't want to throw out the bag so I said " what if I turn these into little crumbles and sprinkle a handful on my salad?? " Well!!!!!! DELICIOUS Just a little handful, but what a nice addition to my sprout salad. Try it. Melody
Guest guest
Mel, I posed that very question to Gil. He says that the dill is there for the taste and that you're getting it as a soak rather than a sprout. The mix takes 5 or 6 days depending on how you like it. ew Re: micro greens EW. Guest guest
EW: Mon Ami means " MY FRIEND " , in French. Now if I would have written " Mon Amour " well, that's a whole different thing. And you obviously didn't know what it meant when I wrote Mon Petit Chou in a previous posting. That means " My little cabbage " That's my favorite french saying. ROFL. Melody And Alan knows all about you.we just celebrated out 31st anniversary. I'm always saying " EW says this, or EW said that " and one time he said " Who the h is EW?? " and I said " Oh, he's a master gardner on Sproutpeople message boards " He said " oh, your sprout thing?? " Immediately lost interest. He can't stand the sprouts. He once walked into the kitchen when I was harvesting 4 trays of sprouts and I was doing the swish swish thing in the bowl of water and then putting them in my GIANT colander. He walked into the kitchen, saw ALL THE GREEN, gave a shudder and walked back to the computer. I never laughed so hard in my life.
