Guest guest
Hi. I buy from handypantry.com which is the same as Wheatgrasskits, Living wholefoods, etc. All the same company. I LOVE THEM. Here's my question. I found this on their site http://www.growingmicrogreens.com/hydroponic-microgreen-starter-kit These microgreens look exactly like what I sprout. I don't use soil, I use trays, I use water for rinsing and draining. so am I sprouting microgreens? I think it's the exact same thing. lol Melody > > Morning all, > > For those of us who like to grow micro greens the company that has the > website " Wheatgrass kits " now has a site just for micro greens. > > http://www.growingmicrogreens.com/ > > They have some interesting seeds which of course is forcing me to order > some I haven't tried. Guest guest
Hi Melody, You do grow some big sprouts! lol In my humble opinion you are right on the border of sprout/micro greens. One of the other things about micro greens is that it allows you to grow seeds that don't always do well as a sprout. Like arugala , kale , cauliflower....things like that. Most of those seeds just become a stinky sodden mess as a sprout but with a growing medium...pads or soil...you can get something larger and leafier than a sprout without the above mentioned problems. Like you I have bought from a few of their online stores and am very happy with them, they have great customer service. So today I am leaning towards trying cauliflower and swiss chard two of my favorites as veggies. Guest guest
Okay, I get it. As of today, I have only grown Radish, alfalfa, fenugreek, broccoli and maybe clover. what else can I grow that is a seed, doesn't need a medium, and I can do it in my trays. I don'd do nuts or lentils. Tummy doesn't like it and I've tried beano and others but I just eliminated them from my sprouting repertoire and I'm fine. But other than clover and similar, what do you think I could try that I could grow in my trays? I'm not planting anything in a garden. I just want to put in seeds, sprout them, and eat them. Thanks much Melody > > > > Hi. > > > > I buy from handypantry.com which is the same as Wheatgrasskits, Living > > wholefoods, etc. All the same company. Guest guest
Melody I know you have said legumes don't agree with your tummy, but didja know fenugreek is a legume? Isn't it awesome that at least one legume doesn't make you feel bad and helps your diabetes? I agree about the bean-never did a thing for me either:) Happy Sunday, n Laying on the couch fighting off a little cold, drinking fresh juice, and watching tennis:) Dr. Rollings NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 www.DrnRollings.com Sent from my iPad > Okay, I get it. Guest guest
Hi n: I continue to use Beano when I am eating some Steamed broccoli and zucchini. Made some last night. Beautiful Broccoli florets and other veggies, a little bit of sesame oil, some low sodium soy sauce, some fresh garlic, yummy. But I always pop a Beano because I DON'T WANT GAS. I will never understand how some of my friends can eat whole heads of broccoli and cauliflower and then we speak and they go: " Oh my god, I have so much gas " And I say " why, what did you eat? " and they go " Oh, I had a whole head of broccoli " Who on earth would eat a whole head of anything? I would not want to be in the same room with that person if they start to toot!!! Guest guest
The difference is the root. If you eat the root, it's a sprout. If you leave the root behind and eat the stem and the leaves, it's a microgreen. Guest guest
Clover and alfalfa are also legumes. It seems that the larger beans are the ones that disagree with people more. Guest guest
Mel, if you would drink Kefir, or a product that I use called " Good Belly', you would put some good microbes in your gut that would help if you have a problem with beans or cabbage, etc. Check your local library for a book by B. Huffnagle, Ph.D. " The Probiotics Revolution " . Go to your favorite search engine and look up Probiotics. ew Re: micro greens Okay, I get it. Guest guest
You could always try one of SproutPeople's leafy mixes. I can recommend Mother's Mix, and I think you would like Russian Mix as well. Guest guest
Melody, have you tried the liquid Beano? I use 8 drops of that on the first bite of any food that causes me gas and it works like a charm. I'm of the opinion that liquid is better than tablets in many instances, and especially in this one.  Peggy To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 15, 2011 8:19 AM Subject: Re: micro greens  Hi. Guest guest
I've been having pretty good luck with microgreens. So far I've grown arugula and chia seeds and right now I'm trying amaranth. I bought some cress and red cabbage from one of the vendors at the Farmer's Market (who's now a new friend it appears - she said that I could " owe " her yesterday when I wasn't sure if I had enough cash for the mint plants I wanted to get from her. She said she knew I was good for it! How cool is that? But I had enough with a $1.00 to spare). The red cabbage is really pretty so now I'm going to try it myself. I figured $3.00 to try hers to see if I like them was way better than ordering some seed for something I then didn't like. For instance, I had NO idea cress was so " peppery " tasting. I have some pictures that I need to get off my camera and posted. As soon as I do that, I'll post a link. I LOVE having a garden both inside and outside my house. > > > > > > > > Hi. > > > > > > > > I buy from handypantry.com which is the same as Wheatgrasskits, Living > > > > wholefoods, etc. All the same company. Guest guest
I'll have to try that one in my next order. Right now I've got a lot of seeds. They'll go faster when my Sprout Garden arrives. Just using 2 Easy Sprouters doesn't use up the seeds too fast.  Peggy To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 15, 2011 2:13 PM Subject: Re: Re: micro greens  I like French Garden. That's the one that finally got my to eating sprouts ew Re: micro greens Okay, I get it.
