Hi ,

My aunt was on Sinemet, and it was a nightmare....it worked ok for

awhile, but the longer you're on it the more it has to be increased

because it wears off quickly. But my aunt was put on it for restless

legs, so each person is different, but they also said that she has

Parkinson disease, but unsure as it could be Lewy Body with Parkinson

like symptoms. No Dr. will agree on which it is. If we knew then what we

know now we would have never let them start her on it, because it did

make her rls worse. She has suffered so much, because of Sinemet that I

hate the word. But like I said each individual is different so it could

be great for your great-aunt........I sure hope that it is......good

luck.....Beth

My great-aunt has just been started on Sinemet. What kind of responses

has everyone seem from this medicine? I did notice that it was on the

bad medicines list, but it was in the use with caution area.

Thanks in advance for the information!

My dad had terrible tremors without Sinemet. He continued to take it

up until the end. We were cautioned to use a little as possible and

never to go over the prescribed dosage as the side effect is

hallucinations. Dad did not complain or mention hallucinations, but

that doesn't mean he didn't have them....he was a master at hiding

things.

As with all meds and LBD, start small and go slow. Each med affects

individuals differently and can change effectiveness over time. I

hope your aunt does well on this.

My Dad went on to Sinemet when his tremors and walking got worse, about two

and a half years after diagnosis. I was added slowly and he's on 2 tablets of

25/100 three times a day. He doesn't seem to have any adverse effects from

it, but with so many difficult symptoms, it's hard to separate them out as

caused by any of his meds.

Good luck.
