you are NOt letting your mom down you are a wonderful compassionate

caregiver, adn you have given your mom so much love and careing that most people

are

not able to do. it is so hard to let those we love go, and as humans we want to

hold on to them because a part of us is selfsih, wanting what we want, but

again taht is human. and nothing to chastise yourself over.

sounds like lewy is taking over again, and hopefully your mom will again get

in a anotehr plateau.

your doctor is right, at times all we can do is treat the symptoms and pray

that God will do His will quickly for our loved one, and bring her back to a

plateau if that is His plan.

i belive in teh power of prayer, and i will say extra prayer for you and your

mom this afternoon.

please take care of yourself, and dont chastise yourself , youare great!!!!

and you have done great!!!

a smile a day keeps the meanies away!!!

I have been reading all messages and want to say that I so admire

everyone on this board for their compassion and strength. It is such

a blessing to have Patti here, too. She is so strong and so kind to

help us all understand our LO's a little better. I haven't posted in

a while...I think I have been feeling overwhelmed.

My mom saw her geriatric psychiatrist a couple of weeks ago to see

how she was doing on the increased meds after one month. The Dr. saw

a marked difference in her, said she looked more frail and had lost

weight, which she has. She seems to be going downhill both

physically and mentally fairly quickly lately. Some of the changes

are that she cannot walk very well at all, balance is off, shuffles

more, leans toward the right and is definitely stooped over. She

also has some toileting problems, not sure when or where to go. Her

appetite is terrible and she has trouble knowing how to eat some of

the food...takes sandwiches apart, sometimes doesn't even get

anything on the fork or spoon before she takes a bite. I don't know

if she doesn't see it or just doesn't understand any more. Her

eyesight seems to be OK in relation to other things.

She also is always asking me why God doesn't take her. She asks Him

every day and doesn't understand why she is still here. It breaks my

heart. I used Patti's explanation which I feel was wonderful but she

keeps asking.

I feel we are doing everything we can to help her but sometime wonder.

The Dr. said all we can do now is treat the behavior problems, which

has been our main problem. Dr. feels the disease is definitely

progressing right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel as though I am letting her

down...or is that my mind not getting the fact that I cannot make her

well? I just don't know.

Thanks for listening....

Blessings to all,

M

My mother recommended that my mother drink a milk shake a day and add/or

make with protein powder or milk.

How lucky my mother was in that respect. If I even think of a milk shake

every day, I would gain 10 lbs a week.
