WEll got the culture results and again no bacteria grew at all. So the nurse says, well you dont have an infection. I dont understand this because why then does every single time I do the urinalysis there is always cells there to indicated an infection, I understand there can be outside contamination but this time it's not possible due to collecting it via sterile catheter. And when the nurse looked at it she said it looks like you have an infection so she saw something. Also the pain only goes away after I take antibiotics. My only other guess is mycoplasmas that dont culture, Im going to do some more reading on that. I told the nurse to ask the doc about this so maybe he will call tomorrow.

,

That is so strange. Keep us updated on the ongoing saga. I hope it

gets resolved soon. Are you thinking of switching to another BRM

from Enbrel?

, I can relate to what you are going through. I am awaiting culture results (the third set!) and expect the same result as the last times. No bacteria grew at all. Yet, every unrine test shows white blood cells which would indicate some type of infection. It is driving me crazy. I have had recurring yeast infections, but they said that would not account for the readings in the urinalalysis. I have not had a great deal of ongoing pain - it comes and goes, but this not knowing is so frustrating. Keep me posted if they discover anything. I should have some results by Friday. Hang in there.

Peggy, what i wanted to let you know that it is commone to have wbc's show up in your urine because of outside contamination, no matter how careful you did it, if you happen to get your thumb in the way, those cells end up in the sample. so that is the reason that they cant rely on just wbc's and have to culture it.

But in my last case i didn't do the urinalysis, the nurse obtained it through a sterile cathetar. This is what my doc wanted to be done and i uderstood him to say this is more accurate and if cells show up after the serile cath uA then it usually is an infection. so last week when he did my cathetars they were perfect, no wbc, nothing, the next day i awoke with severe pain in my bladder area, the next day i went in and did the sterile cath. his nurse did it not him, she usued a dipstick and she's telling me that they can become contaminated and that is why the culture, she gave me antibiotics. the entire reason for doing this sterile cath was so i didnt get any antibiotics. she comes back and says you need to start these. i though the doctor gave them to her for me to start i knew he was seeing other patients so i thought he looked at my specimin, saw the wbc, gave me antibiotics and they would call monday and let me know what cultured....when they call they say well nothing grew.. what pissed me off is now this nurse is telling me that the sterile cathertar does work they way I understood the doctor, that is can show wbc's there even if you dont have an infeciton. so what the hell is the point to come in and do that. i told them i wanted to talk to the doctor. he wouldnt call me back he kept on having his nurse call me back to see if she could answer my questions. i guess i have to make an appointment just to get this straight.

hope i made some sense. my urologistis doesn't know what is wrong with me but he says it's not infections, its inflammatory. i think there could be bladder stones there, so i want him to run a test for that also.
